I pastored First Baptist Church of Plainfield, IL in the late 1970s. It was founded in 1834. They had an interesting account in the church minutes about the Blackhawk War in the 1840s(??) with the entire city hiding in a log fort while he was in the area. :cool: I was the 44th pastor and there have been several since then. It is still an ifb church fellowshipping with the GARBC. ;)

Several churches in our state fellowship here in Wisconsin have been in existence over 100 years...East Delavan Baptist, Delavan; Section Eight Baptist, Pound.

My church is not nearly as old as ya'lls. Our pastor, who was born in blacksburg SC {VERY SMALL town. Like two stop lights! Ok that's an exageration but you get the idea!} Got saved and was called to preach when he was 22, and left to go to Tennessee Temple. He pastored a church while attending college their. Then he and his wife went to West Virginia to start a church. After years of preachein in that church, he felt God calling him back to South Carolina, so he came back to Gaffney [near where he lived} and started Open Door Baptist. It was the first IFB church in our town, which is also kinda small, but we got all kinds of churches on almost every corner. It was founded in 1970, and we've been going since. Lord willing, we will be here preaching the Truth till the Lord comes again!

First Baptist in Casper was founded 104 years ago. It long since quit preaching the Gospel. In 1955 two conservative Baptist preachers from Colorado came, put up a tent and an ad in the paper for people who wanted a GOSPEL-PREACHING Baptist church to come. All but one deacon came and Calvary Baptist was founded.

On March 17, 1957 Calvary planned a double split - with a church for the west side of Casper (Riverview) and one for the north side (Emmanuel) founded that day. I was missionary pastor at Emmanuel from 91-96 until they were able to call a full time man.

BTW, I was saved on March 17, 1957 (about 1000 miles away). God was working on the same day in a church . . and future pastor.

p.s. - My present church is the Evangelical Free Church of Casper, founded in 1972 as a SPLIT OFF Emmanuel and Riverview Baptist churches!!

Our Church building dates back to 1889. It was a German Baptist Brethren.

Our church New Testament Baptist is only two years old.

The church they say is older but their is no records when it was built, because it started on someones private land and was sold to them as a church in 1889. We have civil war veterans in our grave yard.

Lets see, Fourth Baptist Church of Plymouth, MN has been around since 1881.

Trinity Baptist Church in Jacksonville, FL since 1915

Faith Baptist Church in Canoga Park, CA since 1955

Having been saved and baptized at Fourth Baptist in Minneapolis, I got a lot of questioning looks when I mentioned the name of my church. Lots of First Baptist and even a few Second Baptist. But FOURTH?

The Pillsbury family (of the milling fame) were strong leaders in the Baptist Church in Minneapolis, as well as mayor of the city. Their goal was to start strong Baptist churches in each new subdivision as the city grew. So there was a second Baptist on the south side, third Baptist on the West, and on the north side, Fourth Baptist.

As the power of the strong First Baptist declined after the death of WB Riley, and the church slipped more and more into New Evangelical practice and compromise, Fourth Baptist grew into the premier bastion of historic fundamentalism.

When Northwestern Schools were closed (under Billy Graham, Riley's successor) Fourth Baptist helped restart Pillsbury College as a Bible College, and founded Central Baptist Seminary.

The church moved from the near north side as that neighborhood deteriorated into the Highland Park subdivision north of Broadway. In the 70-90's that neighborhood, too, went dramatically into decline.

Hence the church is now located in a near western suburb of Minneapolis, only a shadow in numbers of the "glory days", but in a great facility (along with the seminary Terry is at) and growing steadily. I am thankful that they maintained the name and heritage, even though changing locations twice.

The First Baptist Church of Red Bank, NJ was established in about 1850 as an extension of the Old First Church which was established in about 1794.

The oldest church I served was formed in 1825 and the sister church was built in 1886. Both were in the Catholic Province of Quebec. They were built by the early Scottish settlers.

Imagine, this is Quebec, where in the fifties, we had 8 Baptist pastors gaoled for preaching the gospel. Amazing! And great congregations. The Lachute Church was bilingual whilst the Dalesville Church was English.

My Church is about 2002 years old....Oh! Did you mean the local Church?

We started it a little over a year ago and have about 30 members.

It is in an old gas station and we hold worship in the garage area.

One could either give the people a lift or dunk them.....

There's a local Baptist church that meets in a fitness center.

They brag that the swimming pool gives them the biggest baptistry in the state.

Our church was organized in 1945. We are meeting in the building the church built in 1952. We have three charter members still attending.

A group of Baptists had been meeting together in houses and schools for prayer and worship. On December 13th Elder William Hooper was released from the Baptist church in Dundas to be the first pastor at Binbrook (MY CHURCH).
