How Old Was Adam????

Genesis 5:3 says Adam was 130 years old when Seth was born, after Cain killed Abel.

Because Seth was born after Abel’s death and after Cain’s exile, Cain and Abel must have been born sometime before Adam was 130—but the text does not narrow it further.

Now the question is.......How old was Adam when He was Created? "ALL" theologians describe Adam as “apparent age”—meaning Adam looked like an adult from the first moment of his existence.

However, there are NO Scriptures that tell us Adams age or time elapsed before he Begat Seth.

Very interesting topic!

Were Adam and Eve formed as humans 25 years old perhaps?

Will everyone in the new heavens and new earth be 25 years old in appearance in resurrected bodies, for all eternity? How about aborted fetuses and little babies?

3 And Adam lived an hundred and thirty years, and begat a son in his own likeness, and after his image; and called his name Seth:
4 And the days of Adam after he had begotten Seth were eight hundred years: and he begat sons and daughters:
5 And all the days that Adam lived were nine hundred and thirty years: and he died. - Genesis 5

I tried to chart the genealogy. I have Lamech passing away five years before the flood.

Yes.....Adam and Eve were Created full grown adults. I realize that is an assumption because there are NO scriptures to prove that.
I base my opinion on the fact that Eve was able to pick fruit and talk to Adam on the 1st day they were created.

IMHO.......all of us in the New Heaven and New earth will be the same age there as we were here on earth at death or the Rapture.

ALL aborted babies are in heaven today. They will IMHO then grow into adulthood.

I suppose we will have to wait till we get to Glory!
Probably.

However, if we do not have topics like this to kick around we will wind up talking politics and who wants to do that.

My point with this is to get people to think!

Adam was 130 when he begat Seth. We can assume that Eve gave birth after every child born so IMHO Cain and Abel would have been born 128 and 129 years before Seth as he was the 3rd child.

There is NO genealogical records in Scripture for the time before Cain and Abel.

So then......many people say that there could have been a very long time before Adam and Eve had Cain and Abel. Since we know that they lived 960 years Maybe millions of years went by from their creation to birthing their 1st 3 children.

My point is that there is NO genealogy record anywhere that accounts for the time after Adams creation and 128 years later when Cain was born.

Of course the answer is that there were NO other people on the earth for that time frame and geanology began with Cain and Able and Seth marrying and havin childre,

Point is.......why did it take Adam and Eve 130 years to have their 1st 3 children?

Could the time frame have been millions/billions of years instead of 130 years. And if not....why not as there are NO Scriptures to contridict that idea.

He was one day old! Simple!
Of course, Biblically that is true. According to the biblical text, Adam was created as a fully formed, fully mature man — not a newborn as we normally think of someone being one day old.

Because he was one day old, however we know that he had all the capabilities of a full grown man as he had the abilities of an adult: language, reasoning, strength, and the capacity to name the animals.

According post # 4 Noah's father (Lamech) was about 80 years old when Adam died!
So Adam was the Great-Great-Great-Great-Great-Great-Great-grandfather of Noah

fully formed - Yes - fully mature - maybe not!
IMHO it would have taken a mature....smart and well informed man to name all the animals.

The doctrine of "Mature Creationism" recognizes that God created Adam with the appearance of age. When Adam was thirty seconds old he looked like a full-grown adult. He did not have to grow up or learn a language - he was created fully mature.

I uderstand that as well but that fact does not speak to question posed.

Why did it take Adam 128 years to begat a child? OR......is there a longer peroid of time in view that we are not seeing?

I will be the same age in the new heaven and new earth for all eternity that I am when I die or get raptured???

I sure hope not! I hope my new resurrection body will be closer to what I looked like at age 25.

Since there is no time in eternity, aborted babies will not grow into adulthood. They will likely also be age 25 (or thereabouts) in appearance in the new heaven and new earth.

Maybe Eve wanted to get to know Adam a little bit better.

But we do know what time of day Adam was born.

A little before Eve....... :Thumbsdown :Laugh:Whistling

Why did it take Adam and Eve 128 years to get around to having a baby?

1. It took them that long to figure out how to have sex?

2. They were too busy farming — and the sweaty work on cursed ground wore them out every day?

3. They were reluctant to bring children into a cursed planet?

4. Eve wanted Adam to prove he, without a college degree, could provide for a family?
