First off, how did baseball get in on the ME thread?

( Please overlook that I am a few days off on this.)

Uh, fellers! Even if Hank Aaron were to say this, that does not make it true.

Best Hitter in MLB history: Ty Cobb - career BA of .367 (H. Aaron - .305)

Best BA Average in a year (MLB): Hugh Duffy - .439; Rogers Hornsby - .424 (Aaron - .355)

Most career hits (MLB): Pete Rose - 4256 (Aaron - 3771)

Most hits season (MLB): Ichiro Suzuki - 262; Bill Terry - 254 (Aaron - 223)

Most RBI (MLB) career: Aaron - 2297

Most RBI season (MLB) Hack Wilson - 190 (Aaron - 132)

    Slugging % (MLB) career: Babe Ruth - .690 [Aaron - .555 (Best year - .669)]

Most home runs 'pro' career: Sadaharu Oh - 868 (Japan League); Josh Gibson (Negro League) - ~800 (Aaron - 755 (MLB)

The most that Hammerin' Hank could say about this, and have it be completely true, is that he had more RBI than anyone in the history of baseball, and that for 33 years, he had more career home runs than anyone in the history of Major League baseball.

We're starving for something that makes sense.

    Actually, Ed...

Since many of us are ignoring the false doctrine of ME, baseball was next topic in line to be debated.

I just don't understand why this false doctrine is allowed in the Baptist only sections. Maybe someone could explain it to me. It should at least be restricted to the Other Denoms section. Or maybe the heretical teaching section.

    Amy,

It is allowed in the Baptist Section because they call their denomination Baptist.

But yer right, it should be in a different section as I have never heard of these teachings in a Baptist Church until just a while ago.

Joey Faust preached this doctrine many years back and was proven to be wrong with the Word of God but they just refuse to believe the Truth.

Amen. I'd say it's about as Biblical (and as "good" in terms of "good news") as the belief that when we die we're resurrected as dirty gym socks in the YMCA in Bayonne, NJ.

All historical Baptists and all Millennial Exclusionists.

(Oh I forgot, you can't see me. Gotta admit, it's a novel debate tactic.) I guess I have finally sen something new.

I understand, but if I were to be listed as a Baptist and taught that Christ wasn't God, they'd probably ban me, with good reason. To say that Christ didn't finish the job of saving me and I have to receive 1000 years in hell to finish paying for my sins is just as bad. IMHO.

    Amy,

I agree. I believe it is teaching a different Christ. Christ said, 'He that cometh to me I will in no wise cast out.' Yet the ME crowd has Him casting the saved out of the Kingdom and into hell or outer darkness.

Definitely not the Christ of the Bible.

    1. And this is what we are up against.

    2. These things that Amy has outlined I cannot see in Scripture.

    3. Texts upon texts must be infringed upon to arrive at this body of teachings.

    4. Theologically charged words have been redefined to bolster this theology.

    5. My belief in the sovereign grace of God in salvation, sanctification, and glorification knows no such theology.

That is an accurate way of putting it. I do not know that Christ either. My Christ will never let me slip from His hand.

We have no idea who these people are.
We have no idea of your claim that these people do indeed believe ME.
All you have posted is a list of names--no evidence of anything.

Absolutely. Grace cannot be grace if we have to work for our own salvation.

I could not see Lacy's post as I have him on iggy, but I did see that it was quoted by Amy. Annnnnnnddddd I have to refute it.

These men mentioned were not historical baptists, they were historical people who called themselves baptist.

A true Baptist did not preach that Christ put saved persons in hell for it was contrary to Scripture.

I can't see Lacy's posts, so I assumed that's the complete roster of the people who belong to his church.

    1. What is now known on BB as Millennial Exclusion is a difficult doctrine for me to accept.

    2. Let's flesh this doctrine out:

    a. Where in the Scripture does it say that believers who somehow didn't measure up must spend a 1000yrs in hell, and then can be ready for heaven?

    b. Where in the Scripture does it say that believers who do well in their righteousness get to rule with Christ, but believers do didn't, spend 1000yrs for not measuring up?

    c. Where in Scripture does it say that believers would be in hell?

    3. Isn't it clear that Scriptures we have come to believe to be teaching simple truths, have all along been coded, but now must be decoded?

    4. I have been hit by a thunderbolt and must awake from my theological stupor. I need plain Scripture. The dancing would not work for me. Besides, I'm not a good dancer.
