>My question is this: Just who smoked all those cigars in order to empty those cigar boxes so that you could use them as elementary school supply boxes??

Men who could afford them. It was was normal to hand out cigars when a child was born or got married. I prefer smoking a pipe.

Dad smoked Roi Tans (and a pipe, he still chews straight burley now at 87). Somewhere around here I've got a Roi Tan box that holds some arrow heads I've collected over the years.

I thought the way to tell you are getting old is when the songs you listened to as a kid are sold as a collections on late night informercials.

I remember hearing one preacher explain why the Three Hebrew Children could not have been deacons. It was because their garments didn't have the smell of smoke on them!!

You had toys as a kiddie? We had to make our own.

Cheers,

Jim

I remember playing "cops and robbers" or "cowboys and Indians" with other boys, using a stick for a gun and shouting "bang". That was a lot of fun. Kids these days have no idea what to do if they don't have a cell phone, computer, and all the other electronic equipment that I don't even know about; they have no imaginations and are easily bored.

I remember one game we played. We heeled out four holes in a square and one hole in middle. We then stood behind the first hole and casts dibs (I think you call thel allies) towards the holes. First one to pass all four holes and make the centre hole won all the dibs.

Cheers,

Jim

Mumbly peg was our game; I've had to spit the dirt and grass from my teeth many times.

We made Barbie houses out of matchboxes and wash clothes (beds) and used pieces of wood for walls.

Imaginations are wonderful things. We steal that from our children and grandchildren every time we buy them a toy that entertains them instead of teaches them to use their imaginations and be creative.

How to tell your old....

I have 4 sons (18,17, 13(next month) and 8 years old).
My oldest son just graduated high school last weekend. My second son will graduate next year. My third son is going into 8th grade. My youngest likes to play with my beard and count the grey hair.

My oldest is older than I was when I married (she's 22, I married at 20). My second is the age I was when I got engaged (she's 19, I got engaged at 18). My third is 11 and my last is 9.

Where is my cane??
