J.D. said:Sorry Preacher, I'm not biting. I've already been there my friend. I spent twenty years eating up Hyles/Gray/Schaap/etc-type preaching. Then one day I got nauseous, very nauseous, and vomited out all man-centered worship. Now I feel clean, very clean. The words may be a little harsh but they're meant to help you. I pray you will not waste twenty years in that cult.
I couldn't agree more. It is like a cult. I spent too many years in such triumphant, self-congratulating, proud, and mindless nonsense. Christ is not honored, but a nostalgic longing for a long gone cultural ideal is honored instead. I, too, desire not to be harsh, and my heart goes out to young folks who get caught up in it. I guess I will be charged as a "professional critic," a traitor (since I'm a Hyles-Anderson alumnus), or an apostate. So be it. The gospel is too precious to be exchanged for man's law.
Blessings,
Bill
