Hypocrisy

Well, Optional, there's not much about the topic that I could say that hasn't already been said. However, your suggestion that Germany was a "Christian" nation puzzles me. The United States is similarly described but is one of the wickedest nations in existence. Likewise, that someone has attached this description to Germany doesn't make it true. Germany proceeded with the evil Nazi agenda of its leader which suggests that it was not, in fact, a truly christian nation. Really, if any nation deserved God's judgement Nazi Germany did. (Enter the "Allied Nations") And why is it "ridiculous" that God should use the evil Nazi regime to judge nations surrounding it? God didn't use pure, holy nations to do that in the O.T.. As a consequence of its sin Israel fell under the oppressive hand of several pagan nations. So, Germany's wickedness does not preclude it from being used by God as a tool of His judgement.

Of course, I understand that this is all pure speculation. Chances are I'm totally wrong. Still, I wonder....

By the way, my apologies to the rest of you for wandering off topic.

< Another reason I do not have a problem accepting contradiction in Scripture is because Christ is the final (and only perfect) revelation. >

The explicit accounts of His using violence against the crooks in the temple negate the [assertion, editor] you began this thread with.

Did he use violence in the temple? Was anyone wounded? Hurt (except for their feelings)? I do no think this is a solid example at all of Jesus using violence. I can see, though, why some violently oriented people would want to make it seem that way.

Yep.

< Was anyone wounded? Hurt >

We are not told.

< I do no think this is a solid example at all of Jesus using violence. >

What is it then?-- A liquid example?

< I can see, though, why some violently oriented people would want to make it seem that way. >

Take it only as written. He used a whip, he knocked over their tables with animals for sacrifices, and he drove them out.
