Well, Optional, there's not much about the topic that I could say that hasn't already been said. However, your suggestion that Germany was a "Christian" nation puzzles me. The United States is similarly described but is one of the wickedest nations in existence. Likewise, that someone has attached this description to Germany doesn't make it true. Germany proceeded with the evil Nazi agenda of its leader which suggests that it was not, in fact, a truly christian nation. Really, if any nation deserved God's judgement Nazi Germany did. (Enter the "Allied Nations") And why is it "ridiculous" that God should use the evil Nazi regime to judge nations surrounding it? God didn't use pure, holy nations to do that in the O.T.. As a consequence of its sin Israel fell under the oppressive hand of several pagan nations. So, Germany's wickedness does not preclude it from being used by God as a tool of His judgement.
Of course, I understand that this is all pure speculation. Chances are I'm totally wrong. Still, I wonder....
