"I am an independent"

Unless you live in California, then you have little choice in the matter as the Dem party is in the pocket of the Left Wing.
And being a Republican means taking from the poor to give to the rich. Not a good position for a pastor to take. Also, abortions have gone down under Democratic administrations more than under Republicans. The number of abortions per women of child-bearing age is now LESS than it was before the Republican Supreme Court passed Roe vs. Wade.

PS - FWIW NY state has NO registered independents.

You've said this before, but the fact is that voters may choose "no party" as an option, which makes them independent.

Democrats enable poverty. Republicans provide means and opportunity to escape it.
Don't fool yourself, socialist nations have their 1%ers.

Yep, said it before -

Currently you have the choice of choosing 1 of 8 recognized parties (including the Independence Party) or you can
write in a party of your choice - (eg, Right to Life, Constitution, ect).
Or you can choose "No Party. But doing so does NOT necessarily make you an independent.

The main reason for registering in a party is so you can vote in that parties primary.

Same in Florida. I am officially "unaffiliated", i.e. Independent.

I used to say that I am/was a small "i" independent. An independent but not registered as such.
Here in WA State we are viewed as "no preference" or "no affiliation".

When I entered the world of politics in the 60's I was a JFK Democrat.
Even at that Barry Goldwater (R) was my man in his day.

Roe v. Wade changed everything, I totally renounced my affiliation with the Democratic Party.

To me the Republican Party was/is the lesser of two evils.
Roe v. Wade happened under a Republican administration with several following Republican administrations unable to revoke it.

Today I identify with the Libertarian Party.
I am a Pro-Life Libertarian by affiliation.

I heard that in the northwest, if you feel you don’t identify as a Republican or Democrat, you can register as ‘X’. Hey, it works for gender.

That is a bunch of hogwash!

Republicans want people to have to opportunity to enrich themselves.
By working for it. Democrats want ppl on the govt breast, to keep them dependent on govt assistance, ensuring they get their votes.

We have the worst safety net for the needy among developed nations. Our healthcare system is 17th in the world barely above Cuba. Yes, other countries have their 1% but they are far more equal than America. We are the most unequal of the developed countries.

Abortions have gone down under the improved economies under Clinton and Obama. They have also gone down when women get more access to birth control and medical care. The Republicans are trying to do away with these services so abortions will go UP.

But who is responsible for the "needy"
First how do we determine who is needy.
Is someone who refuses to work considered needy?
Is someone who refuses assisted truly needy.

For example - One day, a guy on the street ask for money so he could eat.
I told him to hop in my car - and we could eat lunch at the rescues mission.
He refused saying he would not eat that slop. I contend he was not need.

Now is just money the answer NO!!!
Churches and Christian social assistance have may programs to help people.

I don't care, I'm not a Republican.

I want Roe v. Wade to be sent to hell to burn.

Gorsuch and Kavanaugh!

I'm a conservative. Many here brand me a Republican because of it. That's their problem. Not mine.

Why would I align myself with either major party, neither of whom are truly conservative?

I can tell you this, fear has absolutely nothing to do with it.
