Are you suggesting that it is not "wise" to use a candidate's religious views into account when deciding who to vote for?
In some cases, yes. Personal religious views don't always equate with good public policy. For example, if there was a powerful enough Jewish segment who could vote in candidates who would outlaw eating of ham sandwiches, they are following their religious views, yet it infringes on the rights of those of us who do not agree with that view.

I definately would vote to keep the ham sandwiches......but not abortion or gay marriage

Indeed. The halting steps of progress and equality continue their march, despite those who are afraid of anything but the status quo. Sometimes progress is made with two steps forward and one step back, but the direction is ahead. Prejudices and hatred are the tools of the fearful. I congratulate the Democratic Party for making history, with the first serious woman to be a contender, and for the first African-American nominee. We have had black mayors, senators, congresspersons, and I am sure that Barack Obama will serve America proudly as her 44th President should he defeat John McCain in November. Someday we'll look back at this historic time and wonder what all the fuss was about.

Very well put...

The beginning of the end....prophetic and I agree, sadly.

I have always been proud of my country, but I was more proud of her before abortion became legal and I would NEVER vote for a person who thinks it's all right to commit murder.

When authority goes against God's Word, we are to follow God's Word, not the authority.

That goes for a husband (or wife) all the way up to the President of these United States.

But, but, but, surely you aren't one of those (shudder--) "one issue voters"; are you??????

OK sarcasm off!!

It is amazing, is it not, that "Christians" can be so callous to effects of our national leader and just ignore His precepts to get (you pick the name) into office?????

The time of "itching ears" has arrived:
2Ti 4:3 For the time will come when they will not endure sound doctrine; but after their own lusts shall they heap to themselves teachers, having itching ears;
2Ti 4:4 And they shall turn away their ears from the truth, and shall be turned unto fables.
Emphasis mine

What you see as history making, I see as a matter of course.

I have always been proud of my country.

I couldn't care less what the rest of the world thinks about who we select to run for president.

Regardless of the color of his skin, Obama is just another far left appeasement minded liberal. His "Christian" character is more than questionable.

As president, if elected, he will be a financial, moral, and national security disaster.

Yup....disaster on many levels.......

Danger Dog (welcome to the board, by the way), and Pastor Larry, those were 2 great posts! Thanks for pointing out the obvious once again to those who refuse to see.....

Ken, the "country" has nothing to do with it. It certainly is not the Republicans or Independents or Libertarians who are behind the Obama bandwagon and the margin is close in Democratic circles. So, be proud of the Democratic party if you want to, but the "country" has nothing to do with it, your thread is based on a false premise.

LOL..

I still say EVERYONE is a one issue voter....

If a candidate would say that all blacks should by lynched.. but you agreed with them on everything else, would they get your vote?
If a candiate would say that all muslim nations should be nuked... but you agreed with them on everything else, would they get your vote?
If a candidate said that he supported the extinction of Christianity...but you agreed with them on everything else, would they get your vote?
If a candidate said that it was OK for men to sexually abuse children...but you agreed with them on everything else, would they get your vote?

I bet everyone on this board would not vote for anyone that would say any one of the above, no matter what other issues they stand on....

Soooo

Why is it that Christians want to still vote for people who say it is OK to suck out the brains of babies?
And then complain about God fearing Christians when we say we won't vote for the barbarian, and then the democrats make fun of us by calling us "one issue voters"

Some times it only takes one issue to make a man unqualified to be in office...

What was wrong with Elliot Spitzer? Hmmm... that was only one issue...

But murdering a baby is not as important to some as hiring a prostitute.

Amazing.

How ironic that black voters in the Democratic party and liberals are pushing Obama who believes in slaughtering of innocent babies which has been called "Black Genocide." Something is definitely wrong with this picture. And Ken is proud of this?

Abortion Industry Decimating Black Community
By Charlene Israel
CWNews
CWNews.com –Here in the U.S. the number of black abortions is twice the rate of the rest of society. Some black leaders say those aborted babies are part of a destructive abortion industry that targets blacks more than any other group.

The message at this First Annual Pastors For Life Conference was loud and clear.

Dr. Clenard Childress is the founder of BlackGenocide.org
He said, "Abortion is black genocide. What happens to the moral fabric of a nation that can accept the aborting of a child without a pang of conscience?"

In many black Communities, for every child actually born, three others are aborted. That’s more than double the rate among Whites. In just the last 25 years, 12-million blacks have been aborted.

Right on the money!

And let me go on to say...

I have found that, as a one issue voter (I will never, no never vote for any candidate for any office who supports abortion on demand) for the most part those who support a pro-life stance also support the other things that are important to me, i.e. marriage between one and and one woman, no special homosexual rights, etc. And, for the most part, those who support the murder of innocent babies also support gay marriage, special gay rights, etc.

I don't believe that God will judge America for our mishandling of our money, but I believe He will judge us for us allowing the murder of babies. Who knows, maybe an Obama presidency is the judgment of God on our country.

1. I know that Senator Obama is half-European-American. That is why I said "major African-American ancestry".

2. I very carefully said "I have never been more proud of my country" clearly indicating that there are other times when I have been equally as proud of my country as I am tonight to go along with those times when I am just plum proud of my country.
What is "major African-American ancestry"? What is "minor African-American ancestry"?

Since Obama is half white you should only be half proud of our country. No wait, since Obama is male you should only be one quarter proud of our country. But, of course, if Obama and Clinton make up and join hands then you should be three-quarters proud of our country. On the other hand if another "rich white man" wins you can't be proud at all.

Silliness aside, Obama's sponsored legislation, however, does show he favors preference be given to black people. That fits with the black liberation "theology" he believes.

I'm more proud now that the Democratic Party has nominated Obama, the first black American to be nominated by any major party to be President. God willing he will win the election in November!

If he doesn't win it, are you going say "God was not thus willing"?

A roundabout way of saying mulatto.

Hey, my dad, my grandmother, and my greatgrandmother's birth certificate list them as "mulatto".....mine says white, but technically I am mulatto also...

Do you have a problem with mulattos?

No; some may be more familiar with that term than the odd PC racial euphemism used in the OP.

Certainly! Then we will have President McCain.

It's hard to get what you are saying, then. Is it that God wills every President we had/have/get? GHWB, Slick Willie, ... Nixon, LBJ, ... FDR,... Hoover, Harding,........Andrew Johnson, Lincoln,..................? And thank God for all these and all the others?
