If a Christian commits suicide...

Hypotheses are being thrown out that only God's Word can give us an answer for.

Suicide is definitely murder, accidental suicide would be like accidentally drinking a bottle that had poison in it. Alcohol, by the way is a poison. Solomon said it bites like a serpent and stings like an adder. A true christian will not deliberately drink poison.
All I can say is it is good that you are a retired preacher. (edited for personal attack)

Terry, I am not a retired preacher. I am retired from pastoral ministry. I am still preaching behind the pulpit at least 3 times a month.

And still called back in the Fundamental Baptist churches to preach.

Terry, I'll certainly be hitting the "report post" button in a moment. That was HIGHLY uncalled for!

I have had family members and friends who committed suicide. For someone to tell me that they are in hell based on faulty biblical interpretation is what is uncalled for. Why don't you hit the report button about that!

BTW, I was not talking to you, MIND YOUR OWN BUSINESS!!!!!

Terry, I am so sorry about your family members committing suicide. I too have had relatives, friends, and aquaintances who have committed suicide. I would love very much to see them in heaven, but the reality of it is, they will not be there.

unbiblical? Revelation 21:8 tells us murderers will find their place in the lake of fire.

So is King David in heaven?

A person is in heaven because of the grace of God alone, it is NOT based on whether they committed suicide or not. To say otherwise is very dangerous theology.

I never said he committed suicide. But he did commit murder, and by your statements he would not be in heaven.

So if a believer dies with unrepented sin in their life, they do not go to heaven?

SBC,

Jesus said many would come before Him calling Him Lord and professing to do many things for Him and yet, He would say depart, I never knew you.

I believe one who does not trust the Lord enough that the Lord cannot bring that one through a trial, that person never belonged to the Lord.

suicide

SU'ICIDE, n. L. suicidium; se and coedo, to slay.

1. Self-murder; the act of designedly destroying one's own life. To constitute suicide, the person must be of years of discretion and of sound mind.

2. One guilty of self-murder; a felo de se.

murder

MUR'DER, n. L. mors.

1. The act of unlawfully killing a human being with premeditated malice, by a person of sound mind. To constitute murder in law, the person killing another must be of sound mind or in possession of his reason, and the act must be done with malice prepense, aforethought or premeditated; but malice may be implied, as well as express.

2. An outcry, when life is in danger.

MUR'DER, v.t.

1. To kill a human being with premeditated malice. See the Noun.

2. To destroy; to put an end to.

Canst thou murder thy breath in middle of a word?

(Webster's 1828 Dictionary)

I do not believe that a believer will die with unrepented sin. The Word of God says He chastens whom He loves. That person is chastened until he or she repents if they truly were saved.

OK, what if you run a red light while you are in a big hurry, and you die. HEaven or hell?

In other words, salvation is not based on what Jesus Christ did on the cross, it is dependent on our ability to stay in a right relationship with God. Sounds like works salvation to me.

BTW, I apologize for my outburst (that includes you too Gina), your comments hit a touchy nerve with me! I will just have to disagree with you on this point.

SBC,

I have answered. You are just not satisfied with the answer. {SNIPPED FOR PERSONAL ATTACK PER BAPTIST BOARD RULES}

No you did not answer, you side stepped the question.

I do not preach people can commit suicide. I preach that salvation is by the grace of the Lord Jesus Christ and his work on the cross. It is not about whether we can hold on to it, it is about Jesus.
