Well, perhaps you just don’t go back far enough, or have the recall, or never watched ‘em. At least four “I Love Lucy” episodes end with Ricky spanking her. There were a few such scenes in John Wayne movies, e.g., “McClintock.” There were other movies as well, earlier ones even. And then there’s “Gone with the Wind.” As far as I know, the culture was not outraged by it, or even offended. Mind you, this is not explanative, merely observative.Article is from the early 1950's. I have no words...
You sound like my wifeHonestly, if anyone tried to spank me, I'd take them down. I'm 5'3" and 140 lbs. but I very quickly got a 1200 lb. horse to the ground when he acted up on me. A man is not a problem. Then I'd press charges (because after all, I was just doing self-defense) after he was treated at the hospital. Heck, I broke someone's nose just by them tickling me!
A Christian man living among Muslims told me they could not believe he never had to beat his wife, as she was just too well-behaved.'The past is a foreign country; they do things differently there' (L.P. Hartley).
Mind you, it is the Koran that gives men the right to beat their wives; the Bible never does.
Am I the only one on here that thought it was his wife? You sound like my wife
My wife has ridden, bred and raised horses, is 5ft 3in and doesn’t take any guff from anybody. If you know horse people then you know they won’t be intimidated.Am I the only one on here that thought it was his wife?

I do not advocate nor do I condone domestic violence. However, It is firmly engrained in the culture in this area. I heard my granny on several occasions tell three of my female cousins "Y'all need husbands to put y'all in your places." Everyone knew exactly what that meant. She told one of them on an occasion "If I had said that, your granddaddy would have slapped me down.
Husbands, love your wives, even as Christ also loved the church, and gave himself for it'Splains a lot!!!!
Amen.Husbands, love your wives, even as Christ also loved the church, and gave himself for it
Justifiable. But did she have to warn you as in the post, or did you figure it out from seeing her in action? Either way, bottom line: No spanking! My wife has ridden, bred and raised horses, is 5ft 3in and doesn’t take any guff from anybody. If you know horse people then you know they won’t be intimidated.
So, I guess that also answers the question, "If a woman needs it, should she be tickled?"Honestly, if anyone tried to spank me, I'd take them down.
