Even people we perceive as saintly sin.

Only God knows the heart and that is where sin originates. There is no sinless perfection. Certainly there are Christians who strive daily to walk with God, but even those Christians are not perfect.

Where did I mention sinless perfection?

I am talking about very godly Christians who are very close to the Lord.

What do you think that Jesus meant when he said "be perfect"? Is this something that is pointless for Jesus to have said?

And you are absolutely right. I read your post too quickly. I'm sorry it's my fault. God bless you.

? Who snipped my point that some of us, in which I included myself, might die without ever repenting of our contentiousness on this board? That was rather rude...and makes my point.

Ah, the old pride got hurt at the suggestion that you would die with unrepentant sins, eh?
    Thanks for making the point.
I don't need to know you, I know human nature. And your reply, again, proves the point.

We will all, sadly, die with unrepentant sins.

ALL saved are saints to God, and none of them ever reached a sinless perfection state, actually, closer they walked with God, more aware of their own sins!

ALL of us saved are in same position with God, its just that some of them actually do walk in a more worthy way!

The only way to live in God's presence is by being perfect. And the only way a person can be able to stand before God in perfection is by having Christ's perfect righteousness imputed to him. Christ was not kidding, Christ was not talking about some sliding scale of righteousness, Christ was not talking about some kind of sincere obedience or human effort; Christ was talking about a perfect righteousness. "Be ye therefore perfect, even as your Father which is in heaven is perfect." - Matthew 5:48

Also, the poster referenced the term "saints". All of God's elect are saints. It is not a term reserved for some kind of non-existent "Super-Christian".

He seems to be very confused as to what being a saint means as per the Bible!

wasn't Jesus speaking directly there to the Pharisees about how they were quick to judge only by outward appearances?

Not everyone that falls into sin/makes shipwreck of the faith is an anti-Christ. That's one of the most abused misused passages there is.

Yes. A saint is a term for a Christian, one of God's elect, a disciple of Christ: And when he had found him, he brought him to Antioch. So it was that for a whole year they assembled with the church and taught a great many people. And the disciples were first called Christians in Antioch. - Acts 11:26

I agree. As I wrote early in this thread that Christians can get themselves into some awful messes.
