If you could publish a parallel Bible ...

You mibght like the Nas 2020 then also, as it now reads a lot like the Csb!

The only problem I have with the NASB20 is the exact same problem I have with the NASB95: it still maintains that awkward, stilted word order/sentence structure.

Although I admire the efforts of Bible translators to be as "literal" or "word for word" as possible, it makes reading scripture more difficult than it has to be.

By maintaining the word order/sentence structure of the original ancient Greek text, it fails to conform to our current "modern" English grammar. (Hence, the descriptive word "wooden.")

Although I certainly understand the value of that for "word study," I find it unhelpful for devotional reading, corporate worship, or simply reading aloud for the vision impaired, for instance (which I do quite often, by the way.)

The 2020 Nas reads to me much like the Csb

I would use two that have the soundest manuscript support so that rules out the Byzantine-based translations.

Then have two OPPOSITE philosophies of translation so the contrasts would be clear but also the text could be fully grasped.

What a sweeping statement that is laughable :Laugh

So in your opinion the KJV which the Lord has used for over 400 years and is still using, does not qualify?

Two of the most important verses in the Bible, 1 Timothy 3.16 for the Deity of Jesus Christ, and 1 John 5.7 for the Holy Trinity, which are beyond any doubt the Original, as found in the KJV. Modern versions have corrupted this because of their hang up on Greek manuscripts which were corrupted when copied

Add to this Luke 1.35 on the Person of Jesus Christ and His True Human Nature

I'm LVO. It was the only Bible for 1000 years for all my European ancestors. None of this new-fangled 1769 KJV for me.

Then I found that the KJV was based on 5-6 documents and newer translations on 5500.

So stick with my Latin Vulgate: sic enim dilexit Deus mundum ut Filium suum unigenitum daret ut omnis qui credit in eum non pereat sed habeat vitam aeternam

Are you saying that the Lord cannot preserve His Word in 5 manuscripts? And what makes you think that 5000 must be more accurate? They probably themselves come from 2 or 3! There are 1000s of copies...

If you could publish a parallel Bible (using only two translations) which two Bible translations would you choose?
I already have one. It is a reference Bible and is out of print by the publidlsher. The KJV and the NKJV hard bound. I would want it in genuine leather to use as my regular Bible.

No he has not only preserved His Word in 5 manuscripts in Greek. He has preserved his Word in 1000's of Greek manuscripts. He could have, but didn't. He used 1000's.
Very, Very rarely can you find a manuscript that is copied from another. Happening only a very few times. There are way to many differences for them to be mere copies from a single copy..

Now God may have only preserved His Word in Gothic in 5 manuscripts in that language. But in the Original Greek 1000's of Manuscripts. He may have only preserved an Old Latin translation in 5 manuscripts. But in the Original Greek thousands.

That is the way He worked.

The NASB2020 is preferable because the words not in the Hebrew/Aramaic or Greek, italics is used so the reader can know. Now the CSB has very good foot notes.

At my age, it all makes so little difference.

I just wish folks would read what they have and actually live by the principles taught!

When it comes down to what is best, most preserved or whatever, it is all settled by the Father.
