Fire Congress...
Then write an executive order to give the president a 300% pay raise...
If I were president there's only one thing I would do.
I would faithfully execute the office of President of the United States, and would, to the best of my ability, preserve, protect and defend the Constitution of the United States.
So help me God.
I'm quite sure I wouldn't be a popular president.

First things first Salty.
2. Get rid of the IRS.
Then how do we fund the Federal govt for necessary operation.
Corporate taxes, taxes on alcohol, tobacco, firearms, tariffs on trade, and military hardware sales and such should be enough to fund a constitutionally limited goverment, Salty.

and who collects those taxes - THE IRS!
I agree we should do away with the income tax. But why should we only tax alcohol and tobacco - beacus they are sin taxes - then how about certian magazines, gas guzzlers, ect.
"The power to tax is the power to control"
(I forgot who is credited with the quote)
That is the reason I support the E-tax
Under this plan, everyone pays - NO execptions and that includes non-profits, churches, ect.
Using this plan, a tax of 1% should be plenty for - as Poncho says - "to fund a constitutionally limited goverment, "

This is a direct tax, no?
A direct tax must be apportioned among the states in accordance with population.
Article I, Section 9, Clause 4. . .
No capitation, or other direct, Tax shall be laid, unless in Proportion to the Census or Enumeration herein before directed to be taken.
Strictly speaking, it probably is not necessary for the federal government to tax anyone directly – it could simply print the money it needs. However, that would be too bold a stroke, for it would then be obvious to all what kind of counterfeiting operation the government is running. The present system combining taxation and inflation is akin to watering the milk: too much water and the people catch on. Ron Paul
There is not, and never has been, any delegation of authority from We the People to the government for the collection of an unapportioned direct tax on the wages and salaries of the American People. It has been a maxim of English Law since the Magna Carta of 1215, that the People must consent to all taxation. "We are being taxed without our Consent!" Phil Hart - Consitutional Income, Do You Have Any. . . page 278

Fine, let the States or Commonwealths collect the E-Tax and then pay according to population
The same way we did before the IRS was founded. Then how do we fund the Federal govt for necessary operation.
First guiding principle would be to run the country by the Constitution.
First thing I would do is get rid of lobbyists and pork spending.
As it stands now your income tax does little more than pay towards the interest on the debt our "leaders" incurred by borrowing money from the Fed who in turn makes it (fiat currency) appear out of thin air.
