Trump is playing by the Nazi play book.

The Press in the Third Reich

When Adolf Hitler took power in 1933, the Nazis controlled less than three percent of Germany’s 4,700 papers.

The elimination of the German multi-party political system not only brought about the demise of hundreds of newspapers produced by outlawed political parties; it also allowed the state to seize the printing plants and equipment of the Communist and Social Democratic Parties, which were often turned over directly to the Nazi Party. In the following months, the Nazis established control or exerted influence over independent press organs.

During the first weeks of 1933, the Nazi regime deployed the radio, press, and newsreels to stoke fears of a pending “Communist uprising,” then channeled popular anxieties into political measures that eradicated civil liberties and democracy. SA (storm troopers) and members of the Nazi elite paramilitary formation, the SS, took to the streets to brutalize or arrest political opponents and incarcerate them in hastily established detention centers and concentration camps. Nazi thugs broke into opposing political party offices, destroying printing presses and newspapers.

So tell me, which newspapers and television news outlets has President Trump shut down or attempted to shut down? If I remember correctly, it was your "Dear Leader" Obama who went after the press, a reporter named James Rosen to be exact. He went after Mr. Rosen for some seven years in trying to get him to reveal his sources with the case going all the way to the Supreme Court. Plus there were others in the press that Obama went after as well.

The Bamster also sought to ban Fox news from a round of interviews in 2009 with Kenneth Feinburg a Treasury department official. The Treasury Department exclusion was part of a larger war that the Obama administration declared on Fox in October 2009 when Stephanie Cutter, White House communications director, went on CNN to denounce Fox as a "wing of the Republican Party" and say that the White House was going to stop treating them as a news network.

Not to mention the IRS going after conservatives as they tried to apply for non-profit status over their 501 (c) (4) applications. They were routinely stonewalled as liberal groups were quickly given the coveted status. So we can readily see that it was the Obama administration who used "Nazi" tactics, not President Trump.

Let's not forget that Obama's Justice department secretly seized the phone records of 20 Associated Press reporters.

I like your Dad!
:Biggrin
Keep trying!

He's 93 and tough as leather. He fell Wednesday night and gashed his forehead and nose - needed stitches, then. He didn't call me till Thursday morning, I came, took one look, took him to ER, ER not interested in face cuts, only in HEART RATE of 32 and low as 27! ...which explains a lot that's been going on with him lately. By 8 pm that night he has a pacemaker installed and back home on Friday morning. Already we're seeing a huge improvement in him all around, except for the scars he'll have from the fall.

Wow! I've prayed for your Dad, I'm glad he is tough.
I'm only 76 and have a pacemaker - cured my insomnia.

The Lord bless you and family.

No. I'm saying your credibility is shot.

Don't expect people to take things you say seriously if you are going to post that Nazis took over the press in Germany in the first weeks of 1933. Especially after you've been called on it before.

Yet you go on merrily posting false information. Why should anyone believe a thing you post?

I didn't even comment on your ludicrous comparison of Trump to Hitler. As if that wasn't enough to ignore most anything else you post.

My source was a document from the National Holocaust Museum. Are you a Holocaust denier?

What can I say except WOW!!
As time marches on, and "other" facts emerge, it'll be very enlightening to see if you hold to this "response"!:Whistling
I understand that Trump supporters want to shut down the investigation just as it's picking up steam. Nixon wanted to do that and fired the Special investigator. I don't suggest doing that.

You don't have to shut down a newspaper to render it unable to provide an objective viewpoint. Trump denies access to White House press briefings to representatives of CNN, the BBC, the Guardian, the New York Times, etc. In addition he conducts a campaign against what he defines as "fake news," which is any news against his perception of reality which is limited and foggy.

No, I'm not a Holocaust denier. What a slanderous question of my character for pointing out your information is incorrect.

Sorry to inform you but your source is wrong. No historian thinks the Nazis cracked down on Germany's press in the first weeks of 1933. How could the Nazis do this if they were not in control of the government until the last day of January?

Neither were the SS used to round up Communists and send them to hastily constructed concentration camps. They were first placed in Brownshirt barracks, then moved to concentration camps in May. Notice May is NOT the first weeks of 1933!

Maybe you should get your information from accurate sources.

Well this is the first I have heard of such a thing and funny how I have not heard any howls of indignation at all, not from anyone. No cries from late night TV hosts, no editorials in liberal newspapers, no blaring coverage from the likes of MSNBC, CNN, or any other outlet about this.Nothing! Nada!

OK. You're arguing that the National holocaust Museum is putting out incorrect information. I trusted it because I respect them. Take it up with them not me.

They're not posting incorrect history on a forum I frequent. You are. Therefore I take it up with you.

Never in the history of this nation has the government spied on the opposing political party during an election process.

Umm... that little thing called Watergate? Remember that?

Watergate was a break-in by political operatives, not what we have here - dirty deeds done by government agents who are supposed to be politically neutral.

I wonder... do spies break into people's safes and steal information. Yes, yes they do.

(I think you are making a distinction without a difference.)

Oh, I bet you do wish he would do that but that's not gonna happen, either. You're right, it's "picking up steam" in a sense.
