record 7 times
report 1 time

The word in chapter 8 is the same Greek word, just a slight difference in form(this one is the verb, the other is noun)

μαρτυρέω

Here, the KJV translates it as:

Witness 28 times
bear 21 times
record 13 times
bare 9 times
testify 8 times
report, testified, testifieth, beareth...

so it looks like the KJV translators thought that "testimony" and "record" were synonymous.

Even in English, the words "record" and "testimony" can be synonymous. Also, what you have here is DIFFERENT Greek words. In my example it's the SAME Greek word.

Also, could you reply on the other thread and give me some of the 800 places the KJV deviates from the TR? I never saw any examples. thanks!

the GREEK words have different meanings. You are doing this backwards, going from English to Greek.(which why it was irrelevant to answer your question as it is not teh same thing) We are going from Greek to English. In the verses we are looking at, it is the SAME Greek word. The English words also have the same meaning.

The KJV team did not use concordance too much. So KJVO folks need to know this when they are so picky about certain KJV words that they think are superior to word choices in modern versions.

That's ONE of the definitions.(you gave the definiton when it's pronounced as ri-kawrd, we gave it as it was in the text as rek-erd). We are speaking of it in the form of re cord Another is the example that I gave which is a synonym of testimony and witness. Words have multiple meanings. Here, all three of these words can mean the same thing. So when we have the Greek word μαρτυρία, we can use either "record" "testimony" or "witness" as translations.

Not always and not how it is being used in the passages we were speaking of. Record CAN be something that is written, but it can also talk about the testimony. They can be synonymous as we all have said. There is nothing else you can do to defend against it as we have given proof they are synonyms.

record: a piece of evidence or information constituting an account of something that has occurred, been said, etc.

Looks the same to me.
