Hmmm. This may be the clearest admission yet, that some can be more American than others.

Another way of looking at it is that Americans who use a double-standard in assessing these disputes are acting less American than those who apply a consistent, uniform standard.

I agree with everything you wrote
OK, but saying that the US should have acted by different standards than did Japan in WW2 would seem to contradict that.

Also, saying that targeting and eliminating a head terrorist is itself a terrorist act, or even unwarranted, would seem to contradict that.

I don't know the cartoonist's theology, but I've found his "Dilbert Principle" to be a pretty good summation on mankind's struggle with emerging technologies.
I got a kick out of finding that his book on this is listed as published January 1, 1900 (Amazon and Harper-Collins). Evidently Dilbert and Adams are older than I thought. But in fairness, the principle has probably been in evidence much longer. :Wink
