John the Baptist proclaimed that Jesus is the One who baptizes with fire.

Jesus asks His 12 disciples if they are able and willing to be martyrs after Him …
“Are you able to drink the cup that I am about to drink, and be baptized with the

I have to agree with Samuels on this one...
The "fire" being spoken of in Matthew 3:11 and Luke 3:16 is the same thing as that found in 1 Peter 4:12-13.

Alan you seem way too quick to throw us into the Lake of Fire.

My reason for a translational update to the passage you quoted is that we are NOT baptized WITH the Holy Ghost but IN the Holy Ghost.

I simply wanted you and others to know that the Holy Ghost inspired Matthew to use the preposition IN rather than the KJV WITH and i provided the Greek.

Some feel comfortable with WITH THE HOLY GHOST i do not.

According to the text of the original language I am IN the Holy Ghost presently and eternally.

There was a huge thread on a Fig tree being Israel, when it wasn't and a huge discussion on stopping the entrance to being exposed to The Gospel of The Kingdom of Heaven, as if that referred to Eternal Life, and it isn't in there and no matter how much anyone looks there is Nothing that has any Spiritual Reality or Teaching that can be alluded to as 'the baptism of the Holy Spirit' and here's an entire thread talking about nothing.

In Matthew 3:11 and Luke 3:16 three distinct baptisms are meantioned. Had the Greek meant the baptism in the Holy Spirit and with fire were the same baptism the Greek form ". . . τω . . . και . . . ." would have been used. But ". . . βαπτισει εν πνευματ αγιω και πυρι," without the article "τω." So the use of "και" meaning another baptism. Look up Granville Sharp's Rule.
