Sorry LeBuick, thats what I get for not keeping up with the thread.
That's not answering the question! Does this verse (19) continue today? Can it not be a "bad Bible" and still be the Word of God, yet not be binding on us today (regardless of 18)? Or is it too still binding?BobRyan said:Lev 19:18 "Love your neighbor as yourself" (the Good Bible)
Lev 19:19 (The bad Bible - don't read it - this is just the part where God is being mean to Jews)
Or something like that?

Bob

Still no answer to the question. Is Lev 19:19 still binding?Claudia_T said:Jesus was quoting right from there when He said to love God and love your neighbor.
That has always been the foundation of the Law of God. That never changes.

Not yet. It's a yes or no question.I thought we did answer that.
We didn't ask you to explore anything. That's the problem. Your "exploring" allows you to keep sidetracking the question. Nobody here declared any "good vs. bad Bible". You made that up. Nobody has ever declared that SOME of the animals in ch.11 are still forbidden, but not those we are used to eating. (I don't eat pork, so how could I even do that anyway?)BobRyan said:That was what I was exploring with you -- the "pick and choose" approach to scripture taking vs 18 but declaring vs 19 to belong to the "bad bible".
And that neat thing is we could take that same approach to Lev 11 - letting God have all the animals that we really don't want to eat as "good ideas not to eat" (rats, cats ,dogs, mice) but then selecting out from among His list anything that would be too inconvenient for us to listen to Him about -- too restrictive on our wants and preferences to allow Him to go ahead with it.

No, Lev 19:19 is not binding.

THEN WE don't have to let God tell us not to eat rats!??The question is do you still obey this verse? (19:19) If not, then
