aww, come on Ed, you are one of the only ones besides me that uses the KJV1873 that I know... now you are deserting me for the HCSB?

I feel lonely now!

here must be somthing about the AV for you to devote SO MUCH time picking it apart.

Personally I spend no time picking it apart because it has already been oicked apart much like a cat who kills a bird--feathers going everywhere with a lot of fluff in the air. The AV has already been proven an outdated translation so there is nothing more to pick apart. Picking the AV apart is much like kicking a dead horse--[attack on Bible deleted].

Your statement does not demonstrate that the KJV is superior in every rendering of every verse to all other English translations. The point of this thread does not concern any claim of whether the KJV may be superior overall, but only whether it is superior in every rendering of every verse. Are you claiming complete superiority at every verse for the KJV?
See the bold above. False! On other thread I answered concerning the KJV superiority over modern versions reflecting to right translation of words in the KJV. I compared the KJV and modern versions reflecting to two verses. Look at John 5:31 and 8:14. I found modern versions contradicted with 2 verses. The KJV does not contradict them -- ZERO! The KJV superiority!!!!

What manuscript are you using to do your comparison? And which modern version are you referring to? The NRSV translates both of those verses superior to the KJV and doesn't contradict. So do both the NASB and NIV.

The people who have chosen KJV as their Bible will not regret about their choice when they stand in front of God on the Great Day of Judgment, while so many so-called intelligent Doctors, Pastors who criticize KJV by eloquent logic and profound knowledge, will be speechless and ashamed!

When I talk with Anti-KJV people I have often found they don't know much about the Bible! They don't care about the difference!

God loves KJV and the people who love KJV!

In my humble opinion this is the most ignorant statement that I have ever read on the BB. To date, anyways.

I don't care about any reproach or condemnation against my statement or my choice as my Lord Jesus didn't!

further definition would be helpful:

by "anti-KJV," do you refer to...
1. people who like the KJV but prefer a modern version, or

2. people who truly don't like the KJV?

The rhetoric here seems mighty harsh...especially if you mean #1.

Obnoxious piety alert. We are talking about a definable issue and Eli swallows a martyr pill AFTER his earlier harsh rebuking of others. Hmmm.

Bro Bell, harsh rhetoric is normative :p

I don't know of many anti-KJV people. I am surprised that you have actually met people who are against the KJV. I have quite a wide sphere of Christian friends and associates and only a tiny, tiny segment would be against the KJV.

It appears that both sides in this debate are capable of using opinion as "fact."

Proven to be outdated??? For an "outdated version" it sure seems to be powerfully used of God in the 21st century!

Thank you C4K. Thank you very much indeed. That was well said.

I'll give a big AMEN to that too...
That is a statement that even most MV users could get behind.

You see folks, no one hates the KJV.. we love it. It is God's word.

I am not KJVO. I am not even KJVP. I personally prefer modern translations, and I do preach from modern translations.

However, I do still read some from the KJV, and I have no problem with those who prefer to do so as long as they don't try to force me to read exclusively from the KJV.

Are you suggesting that a comparison of two verses proves superiority at every rendering of every verse?

John 5:31 in KJV
If I bear witness of myself, my witness is not true.

Are you providing a verse that seems to contradict Herb Evan's claim that "the KJB superiority over these versions is self evident?"

According to your reasoning, the verse you cite would seem to suggest that the KJV cannot bear witness of itself.

This is what I wanted to address to, because many people say that they don't hate KJV, but de facto they speak or work against it.

To say that the KJV is not a perfect translation is not to speak against it.

Very few believers would say anything negative about those who chose the KJV as their Bible and who prefer to read it, and most believers even those who may use modern translations would not agree with them. I still choose the KJV as my overall favorite translation although it may not still be overall the most accurate translation, but that choice would not justify the use of inaccurate claims to defend it. It could possibly be overall the best English translation, but no one has provided the evidence that would prove that opinion to be true. Valid evidence is available that shows that in at least some verses another English translation is clearer, better, and more accurate than the KJV.

Choice of the KJV as their Bible is a very different choice than choosing to promote a KJV-only theory and choosing to condemn all other English translations. Will those who use invalid means such as inaccurate statements, faulty reasoning, and even false claims and improper tactics such as attacks on the character of other believers in their advocating a KJV-only theory not regret their choices?

Those on BB who "speak or work against" the KJV do neither. I think I can speak for those who favor MVs in saying that if someone wants to use the KJV as their personal Bible of choice, that is fine. It is up to the individual.

Speaking against the KJV would entail calling the KJV garbage or other such blasphemies. Has anyone on BB called the KJV garbage? Of course not!

Working against the KJV would entail trying to get rid of the KJV altogether so that no one could use it or have access to it. Has anyone on BB stated their desire to make the KJV unavailable to anyone who wants to use it? Again, the answer is no.

Standing against the KJVO belief is not standing against the KJV itself. Standing against the KJVO belief is standing against a man-made "doctrine" that is based on nothing found in any Bible version.

Well put, Keith.

Since the AV is my version of choice for memory work but not for preaching/evangelism, I want to treat that translation with respect, but not idolatry. Hence many of us on the BB are FOR the AV, but against the "only" sect.

Hey I know...bring back the ASV. It has the thee's and thou's that nobody uses anymore, anywhere but is at least a good translation
