Is Lying always wrong?

If you'll look into most of the people God used in the bible you'll find that they were all sinners for one, and that they all stumbled, adn sinned,and that God could still use them not becasue of the sin, but inspite of the sin. God was letting us know that no matter who we are,(as Paul said of himself, chief among sinners) God can still use us, it's not us but Chrsit in us that makes us useable. So was it good and right for Rahab to lie, no, God said lying is sin, it can never be good, but he was able to use a sinful woman to accomplish His goals, juts as He does daily with us.
Anythng else is making excusses for sin, you have no excuse, I have no excuse, sin is sin, call it sin, God does.

If a person is dying from, say, cancer, and they are suicidal. They don't know their prognosis. Do you tell them? Or do you find cagey ways to get around the topic?

If a patient with a form of dementia believes they are somewhere they aren't and they are beyond reason, Do you tell them they are wrong? Do you tell them where they are, and they must stop lying?

Is lying only commission, or does it include omission?

The Oxford definition of lie is: (1)an intentionally false statement; (2) imposture; false belief; (3) deceptive.

So, we tell the suicidal person and they commit suicide.....we tell the person with dementia, and it means nothing to them, but adds to their discomfort and confusion.....

Should we define lie so tightly as to be inhumane?
I have a lot of questions about that, and I am still searching scripture for a definitive answer since the scripture contains some 200 plus references to lie and many different situations.

Note, I am not talking about normal situations, and I would agree that lying is always wrong; commission and omission of the facts.
