Is "soulwinning" a fundamental?

I am a born again Christian and a disciple of Christ - and that implies that the commandments that Jesus left to his disciples are directed at ME also.

Calvinists - do you know who the elect are? If you don't, then maybe that is a very good reason to try and seek the lost!

I honestly believe that Christians who don't want to go "soul-winning" are just afraid of failure - or embarrassed to try and let the Holy Spirit work through them. I don't see how you could interpret Jesus' commandments any other way!!! We are COMMANDED to bring the lost to Him. It is not my Preacher's sole assignment. I am a disciple too.

In my FUNDAMENTAL CORE CHRISTIANITY class I am currently taking, the definition of a church can go two directions - an organism (the body of Christ) and also an organization, specifically, a group of believers joining together with the main purpose being that of fulfilling the Great Commission.

If you want to be part of a social club, go join the Elks. They don't witness.
God bless your testimony, dcorbett!! :applause: That blesses my heart! And sure -- we all tremble at the awesome responsibility and how we can fulfill it. But no -- it's not WE, it's the Spirit through us!

My Bible says God draws men to Himself.
This is where you lose us. Draws how? With BELIEVERS, right?

The main purpose is to worship God.
WOW! I couldn't disagree more!! You're thinking of angels here, Ja, reciting "Holy, Holy, Holy" in a pristine heaven all day! Do you have a family? a job? a country? Do you eat? Where do you find the time while singing "Holy, Holy, Holy" all day?

Laodecian in nature, they "play to the masses" with drama, dance, and modern music.
Wow! You must be reading my mind! "Worship" they call it! :tonofbricks:

But since most fundamentalists have a very generic creed, if any creed at all, then it's up to the Big Mannagod to determine what the fundamentals are.
Apparently you didn't read my notes on Eph 4:3-6 regarding the REAL fundamentals.

And are you denigrating fundamentalists? "Big Mannagod?"

The "fundamentals" you name are "Calvin-speak" for Eph 4:1-3. Get with the Program -- the BIBLE!

When we go out on Saturdays after "soul-winning class", we are attempting to spread the gospel. AND THAT IS A COMMANDMENT, you can't interpret the Great Commission any other way.

By the way...My church calls it "door-knocking" Now I wait to see how that expression is ripped apart.........:BangHead:
So you are actively involved in soul-winning? spreading the gospel? You are a rare species around here! It's great fun though, isn't it?!

Don't let the "sour-pusses" around here get you down! :jesus: You can have one of my crowns because I applaud your efforts, dcorbett!

As I mature in my Christian walk, I cannot sit on my Blessed Assurance and wait for the lost to walk through the door....they won't. "Look unto the fields, they are already white unto harvest"
Where have you been all these 1000 posts? We all should have seen this encouragement long ago!

I need to add -- I haven't been soul-winning in years. Yeah, I shared Christ in the cockpit numerous times. Ocassionally elsewhere. But "winning" is another thing, isn't it. Going after the "fish" is quite another thing, isn't it. "Bait on a hook" doesn't compare with "drawing the net," does it. God bless us all with your example, dcorbett.

skypair, thank you, but I am just a lowly sinner, saved by the amazing grace of God through the blood sacrifice of Jesus, who died in my place...and I want to share the good news. I spent years doing nothing. I am so happy, serving Him.

Go out soul winning, you will be blessed!!! Sounds like you know how to let the Holy Spirit guide you. We had 4 people saved on Sunday. And those were people that came to church, resulted from door knocking on Saturdays.

the term is "soulwinning" - not "soul-saving"....

we do not claim to be the one SAVING the soul, we are simply going out in order to WIN them over to Christ. Not like "win a prize" but like "he has a 'winning' smile"....

It has always amazed me how so many here on the BB can get so caught up in whether or not we use a specific term...and yet those same people will get all worked up over what they call other people's "legalism." It's a Biblically-derived term. If you don't like it, oh well, but don't hang your whole argument on terminology.
To an extent, we surely must be caught up, not with whether we use a particular term, but with whether we all mean the same thing by that term. How can we discuss anything if some of us give a different meaning than others to the words describing the theme (in this case, "soul-winning")? To take a non-controversial example, suppose someone asked, in the Sport Forum, "Do you like football?" Football here is what you call "Soccer" in America, where "football" is a different game, so to answer meaningfully it is essential to know what the questioner means by "football".

Sorry if any of my posts have seemed "legalistic"; that was not intended. :)
