I agree with Jim on this. I mean really William Branham? There are legitamate biblical scholars that hold to your position Roby. By the way back to the topic, a persons view of eschatology does not make them a fundamentalist, except if they deny that Jesus is coming again. How that will take place you will find all kinds of interpretations within the fundamentalist family.

He predicts Jesus to come back in 1977.
    Check your sources Robycop.

I don't trust him whatsoever, Jim...I live but 15 miles from Eastern Kentucky where Branham once flourished. He was one of the great charlatans of the '40s through the mid '60s. He died after his car was struck by a drunk driver in 1965.

Branham is associated with several Pentecostal branches, and some with SDA, and still has a cult following, same as does Ellen Gould White.

I posted a link to that page just to show Michelle and others the "Church Age" doctrine in its entirety as it was taught by Branham and those who followed him. Please note the PARENT SITE for that page...biblebelievers.com.

Speaking of fundamentalists...Here's a link containing a brief summary of Dr. Richard Clearwaters' views on Bible versions. Dr. C was one of Dr. Bob's teachers, and was considered as fundamental as a person could be. There are numerous other articles about him, including detailed bios, but this one should be sufficient for this board. Personally, I hold that man in high esteem.

Moving this to the "Fundamental Baptist Forum" as the version issue is only a minor sidelight in this thread.

Everyone keeps bashing CCM - even though there is not scriptural basis for this, implicit or explicit. Where does it say we should sing late 19th century hymns accompanied by piano and ( ugh!) ELECTRIC organs?

It seems to me that those who rail against CCM would also have railed against Jesus and His disciples for eating corn without washing first!

Let's focus on important things shall we?

Traditional-music-onlyism is as false of a doctrine as KJVOism.

Psalm 81:1 Sing aloud unto God our strength: make a joyful noise unto the God of Jacob.

Psalm 95:1 O come, let us sing unto the LORD: let us make a joyful noise to the rock of our salvation.

Psalm 95:2 Let us come before his presence with thanksgiving, and make a joyful noise unto him with psalms.

Psalm 98:6 With trumpets and sound of cornet make a joyful noise before the LORD, the King.

Psalm 100:1 Make a joyful noise unto the LORD, all ye lands.

Some churches do this without even trying [IMG]

Once again, it is a matter of opinion. If you don't like CCM, then don't listen to it, period...... But at the same time rethink Southern Gospel, Hymns, etc. People (not saying anyone here) in general get an opinion and put "thus saith the Lord" behind it. I'll listen to CCM, you listen to Southern Gospel or Choir Music, etc.. Fine with me, we'll still be friends and talk about our Lord and Savior, our Beautiful Redeemer, our Creator that loved us enough to let us choose what type of Christian music we wanted to listen to..

Maybe if you actually looked at what is wrong with it, apply scriptural truths and commands to it, instead of trying to condone it and point fingers at and name calling those warning of it, and rejecting it, you might be able to see.

"Maybe if you actually looked at what is wrong with it..."

Just what IS wrong with it? Answer: It's different! That's it!

Shouldn't we rejoice that there are young people praising God and getting excited about the Christian life?

What have you actually looked at?

FYI some of the CCM is much better than what you sing at your church. I know without even listening to your music. Many of the young people today are singing scripure. How's that for being so far off base and heretical. Sometime attend some of the conservative young people's groups who are out sharing Jesus, leading others to Christ and discipling them. At the univerisity where I am there are about 800 students each week meeting for fellowship, Bible studies, prayer and witnessing.

I do. it's a pleasure when I hear my daughter share with her friends. It excites me when I hear my daughter say to me that she was to present herself as being a Christian in her speech class. It's great to see my daughter prepare for a debate on abortion or some other topic. She listens to CCM too. She's got more boldness than the vast majortiy of adults I know. She is only 14. In fact at this time she has a friend from school over right now. She has been a stright A student since she began school in kindergarten.

So how's that for a young lady who listens to CCM and shares her faith with boldness and unashamedly? She invites kids to youth group and church too. This dad is proud of his daughter.

If you look at those who threw away the faith of their parents the majority came from legalistic homes.

The funny thing is that Jesus was accused of being a liberal by the Pharisees too. I have been accused of being a liberal and a fundamentalist. I guess I am in good company because so was Jesus.

"Is there any true fundamentalist on this board"

    Translation:

Is there any one else on this board that thinks exactly like me?

If not, you are not a fundamentalist.

So is life in the world of fundamentalism ...

If you are the determiner of what a fundamentalist is or is not, I proudly stand and say "I am NOT a true fundamentalist" [IMG]
