Emotions are winning here. Let's discuss the topic and stop all references to other posters. There is no need to question the spiritual stands of others based on their views here.

I don't want to close yet another thread, but will if I must.

I find all the fundamentals I need in the Word of God. I need not read, nor adhere to other people's doctrines.

You need to read to properly define and use the word "liberal". It has a theological meaning... and that meaning isn't in the Bible. The original fundamentalists because of their love for the word of God wrote "The Fundamentals" as part of their battle against liberalism and humanism.

If one is going to call themselves a fundamentalists... they should take the time to learn what one actually is.

BTW, if you truly find your fundamentals in the Bible and not other people's doctrines... then you shouldn't be arguing for standards not declared in the Bible.

If the fundamentals are in the Bible and other peoples doctrines are not in the Bible I should not be arguing for standards not declared in the Bible? I do not argue for things not found in the Bible.

This is a friendly warning. I urge you to take a look at the featured thread Categories of Truth at the top of this forum. We are shedding more heat than light on this thread. In my humble opinion, this matter is properly placed in Category 2. Some on this thread are treating this matter as if it were a CAT1 truth. However, to say it is permissible or impermissible to drink in "moderation", does not raise to a Biblical truth so clear that to deny it is to deny the meaning of words.

Category 2 truth is not what we slice and dice the folks over.

The fundamentals are found in the Bible. What you have argued here is not found in the Bible except possibly as principle.

I do not argue for things not found in the Bible.

You have argued for standards here that are not found in the Bible. Maybe they are legitimate personal standards based on biblical principles... but not ones that YOU can legitimately demand that everyone obey or else have their Christianity or holiness questioned.

As a matter of fact, many of the original fundamentalists came from denominations that use alcoholic wine at communion.

Like I mentioned before, it might be healthy to research the roots of fundamentalism to see what they thought was important and what they were addressing.

You still want us to follow your false premise. God did not say that all drinking of alcohol as a beverage was sinful. Your opinion or even personal conviction on the matter does not rise to the level of scripture.

As most time we have swerved off course from my question. My objective was not to have folks search Scripture to find a verse telling us, Thou shalt not drink Budweiser beer. As students of the Word we seek Truth. However when the Truth is unclear then we look for principles and apply these principles to our lives. Again I use an illustration. What would you associate with a hells angel, a can of beer or a Bible? What would you associate with a Christian, a Bible or a can of beer? Why is this so hard to understand? I mentioned before, if I am going to be wrong about some issue I would rather be wrong on the right side. Example, I am not a hells angel so.... I am not going to drink their beer. I am not going to let my hair grow long or wear the "colors" even if I could without sinning. I believe that if I cause someone to backslide or not come to Christ by something I do than that something is sin. Him that knoweth to do good and doeth it not to him it is sin.

Is this thing STILL going on? standing and Shiloh, don't you know we are to build up the body of Christ and not spend our time tearing one another down? If someone who is Christian is having a beer and the Holy Spirit does or does not convict them, what is that to you?

Your judgments of so many on this board and, I assume, in your own lives off the computer, are going to come down very hard on your own heads. Please stop doing what you are doing and trust the Holy Spirit to convict of sin. That is HIS job.

Yours is to serve. Mine is to serve. We are to be servants, like Christ.

It is that which will win people to the Lord, not these chronic nasty, bitter, horrid-toned judgments you and others like you keep passing down on so many others.

Please, please remember the part of Jesus' prayer for all of us:

I pray also for those who will believe in me through their message, that all of them may be one, Father, just as you are in me and I am in you. Helen, my preaching has been addressing subjects raised in the threads I have visited, including this one.

You seem to be attacking every time I post the Word of God and comment on it. It appears it is not I that has a problem.

Dear Helen, Why do refer to my posts as, "these chronic nasty, bitter, horrid-toned judgments"? As far as I can recall I haven't called any one names like this. I don't hate you because we don't agree. I post on the BB "Fundamental" page. You should read the rules on this section. What I do on here is but a snippet of the time I spend in the ministry. I don't spend much time here. I simply posted a few things to get the feel of some people...and I did, must have hit a sore spot. I am a preacher. I deal with people everyday. I deal with people that use "Christian" people as excuses. It would be a tremendous blessing to be able to say to a criticizer, "Christians" don't do this or that. However I find out by posting on this board that "christians" are no different then the world. Helen, there are some of us that are different. My wife and I have eight children. ALL eight are in Bible believing independent fundamental Baptist churches. They along with their families are serving the Lord in Maine, Virginia and in Iceland. I am glad to say that every church they are in has the same Biblical convictions that they were raised with. So you see Helen, there are some of us old fashioned Baptists out here that still take the Bible at face value and still fear God. 2Ti 4:2 Preach the word; be instant in season, out of season; reprove, rebuke, exhort with all longsuffering and doctrine.
2Ti 4:3 For the time will come when they will not endure sound doctrine; but after their own lusts shall they heap to themselves teachers, having itching ears;

I am not preaching, as I am sure my Brother Shiloh will say the same, to win a popularity contest. The truth be known, the Word of God must be carried by the preacher regardless of the persecution, regardless of the ridicule, and regardless of the fact that many will reject the truth.

The way to eternal life is narrow and few there be that go in thereat.

Many want to conform to the world and enjoy the pleasures of the world rather than sacrifice their wills over to the Word of God.
