Do you think Paul lied to protect anyone from a potential killer?

This scripture is being discussed in the theology section under "Introducing Christian Doctrine...."
2Ch 18:19-22 NIV
(19) And the LORD said, 'Who will entice Ahab king of Israel into attacking Ramoth Gilead and going to his death there?'
"One suggested this, and another that.
(20) Finally, a spirit came forward, stood before the LORD and said, 'I will entice him.'
" 'By what means?' the LORD asked.
(21) " 'I will go and be a lying spirit in the mouths of all his prophets,' he said.
" 'You will succeed in enticing him,' said the LORD. 'Go and do it.'
(22) "So now the LORD has put a lying spirit in the mouths of these prophets of yours. The LORD has decreed disaster for you."
God seems to not only endorse lying here, but commands it.

That's not lying. Lying is bearing false witness against thy neighbor. Misleading God's enemies to frustrate their diabolical plans is demanded by the command to love thy neighbor as thyself.Dale-c said:

Lying can be OK even when not saving a life. If my son shows me something he drew and asks if it looks good, of course I'm going to say yes even if it doesn't.

Johnathan and David in the field is a lying circumstance. As was already pointed out, Rahab is another. It can even be said that Jesus pretending to go further while walking on the road with the two men after His resurrection could be considered lying.
