President Obama has declared that Islam has helped shape many countries, including the United States, for the better.

Can anyone, especially those of you who supported Obama, tell us exactly how Islam has helped shape the United States for the better?

Here's the story:

http://www.breitbart.com/article.php?id=D97CVOMG0&show_article=1

"We will convey our deep appreciation for the Islamic faith, which has done so much over so many centuries to shape the world for the better, including my own country," Obama said.
Wait a second. He didn't say the United States, he said "my own country". Maybe he was talking about some other country....Kenya maybe?

peace to you:praying:

This is a continuation of George Bush's policy. I wonder why I didn't hear an outcry back then.

Bush greets Muslims on Ramadan

…“I thank the men and women of the Muslim community for their contributions to America. Your love of family and gratitude to God have strengthened the moral fabric of our country. Our nation is stronger and more hopeful because of the generosity, talents, and compassion of our Muslim citizens.” “Laura and I send our best wishes. Ramazan Mubarak,” he said. >>>>>

You say that a lot.

You have said that concerning a great many of Obama's policies.

You were unhappy when Bush was implementing those policies...
...shouldn't you be unhappy with Obama for continuing them?

You did, if you were paying attention. From me. Many times. On this forum.

More inane babble. A good number of people have spoken out against Bush. But this is what happens when you have no argument but desperately want one.

Apples and oranges. Bush mention muslim citizens...Obama mention the religion of Islam. Please get your facts straight.

Naw, for once, J/C's criticism is well placed. Bush called Islam a "religion of peace" more times than Obama has.

Just more proof that both of them play for the same team.

Nope. His criticism isn't about what Bush said. it is a false charge that no one was concerened about Bush saying it but they are when Obama does. Again his charge is false and he knows it.

Islam had an advanced civilization when half of Europeans were living huts. During the Crusades returning Crusaders brought much eastern learning back with them. This is what started the Rennasance sp?)

Islam pushed north of Spain and were not finally kicked out until King Ferdinand and Queen Isabella joined forces in the late 1400's. The resulting peace allowed Isabella to funds Columbus's voyages.

Europe had lost all copies of the great Greek and Roman texts and got them from Islam.

No. This is about our leaders and Islam. And I don't believe you started the thread.

Mitch, you are correct about J/C's false accusations. Add on top that that particular poster NEVER answers a challenge, and you are correct in your criticism.

I stand by Bush & Obama being the same, but retract all other points.

Really? All I see is obama and islam as the topic.
Lets see what the op says...

I hate to break this to you all, but after September 11th, Bush declared Islam a "peaceful religion" after reading a few pages from an American translated Qur'an. It disgusts me what Obama said, but the fact that Bush declared Islam a peaceful religion should be an insult to every family member & the victims. Islam in my book is not a peaceful religion if they declare a "Jihad" on us "infidels". All they are good for is strapping a bomb to their chest & blowing things up.

The pirates of Islam helped us shape our policy of never paying tribute to criminals like them.

"...to the shores of Tripoli..."

Their first contact with the United states Marines and the United States Navy should have taught the muslims not to mess with them.

Alas, the Marines had to reaquaint them with their past defeats. Muslims must be slow learners. :BangHead:
