Now this poster plays the fool. The altered text (to be saved rather than for salvation) is only found in modern mistranslations (19) but the noun is a noun versions (about 40) present accurately the inspired text.

But we are bound to give thanks alway to God for you, brethren beloved of the Lord, because God hath from the beginning chosen you to salvation through sanctification of the Spirit and belief of the truth, KJV

But we ought always to give thanks to God for you, brothers beloved by the Lord, because God chose you as the firstfruits to be saved, through sanctification by the Spirit and belief in the truth. ESV

do you see the difference here?

The altered text is "to be saved" rather than "to or for or unto salvation." The ESV is a modern translation based on the RSV first published around 1952. To attempt obfuscation is beneath contempt.

It so seems you tend go with the inferior (in this case the 6% of 2 Thessalionans manuscript evidence) readings.

Yet another change the subject post. This is all the false teachers have, because their doctrines cannot stand the light of day.

Folks, behold the pathetic effort at obfuscation. The issue is changing the noun (salvation) into the verb (saved) and both varients have the noun and not the verb. So simple a child could understand it.

2 Thessalonians 2:13 clearly teaches conditional election by reason of faith in the truth.

You and Van are just opposite sides of the same coin of legalism. You both attach conditions to God's saving grace.

1 John 2:2 NASB
and He Himself is the propitiation for our sins; and not for ours only, but also for the sins of the whole world.

He Himself refers to our Lord Jesus.
Is the propitiation refers to Jesus being the means of salvation.
For our sins refers to John's intended audience of born anew believers.
Jesus is also the means of salvation for the whole world, all humankind. Everyone God places into Christ spiritually is saved, and everyone not placed into Christ remains unsaved.
