Joe the Plumber Discussions

Joe the Plumber

It turns out he isn't a licensed plumber. He doesn't own a plumbing business. He would actually benefit from Obama's tax cuts. McCain mentioned this guy 24 times in the debate last night.

Just another one of McCain's failed stunts.

What ??????

He's been working up to buy a business. Only the business owner has to have the license.

Wow.

I'm going to remember your claim of being "highly educated".

Hack journalism by cowards. Now they're out to destroy Joe the plumber.

Pathetic.

The left's attacks on Joe the Plumber burns me up! Liberals are not only sick, but they are mean spirited and evil.

Thank God we live in a free country, where you can speak your mind on public issues, without fear that those who disagree will respond by exposing anything you've ever done that you regret or that could embarrass your family.
Oh, wait, never mind. We have to know, according to some, about Joe the Plumber's tax lien, and how he doesn't have a license - which, if the smear artists bothered to check the law, he only needs for commercial work, not residential work.
This is the way our opponents operate now. Destroy anyone who stands in your way. Humiliate them. Make sure that anyone else who ever wants to skeptically question Barack Obama knows that every last bit of their dirty laundry will be aired for all the world to see. Bristol Palin, Trig Palin, — hey, it's all fair game. They've got to make an example of them. Show them that this sort of dangerous speech won't be allowed in the New America.

This is another form of intimidation tactics by the Nazi Obama Campaign. Publically humilate an average guy who asks a question from a Presidential candidate. Everything surrounding Barack Husein Obama is evil.

well, Daily Kos has posted up the guys phone # & home address. They will destroy this guy.

Turns out I was right. The worst they can find on the guy is he owes 4 digits of back taxes.

Wurzelbacher instantly became a media celebrity, fielding calls during the debate and facing reporters outside his home near Toledo on Thursday morning for an impromptu nationally televised news conference.
The burly, bald man acknowledged he doesn't have a plumber's license, but said he didn't need one because he works for someone else at a company that does residential work.
But Wurzelbacher still would need to be a licensed apprentice or journeyman to work in Toledo, and he's not, said David Golis, manager and residential building official for the Toledo Division of Building Inspection.
State and local records show Wurzelbacher has no license, although his employer does. Golis said there are no records of inspectors citing Wurzelbacher for unlicensed work in Toledo.
And then there was the matter of his taxes.
Wurzelbacher owes the state of Ohio $1,182.98 in personal income tax, according to Lucas County Court of Common Pleas records.
In January 2007, Ohio's Department of Taxation filed a claim on his property until he pays the debt, according to the records. The lien remains active....

You can tell where evil has been by the victims it leaves behind.

This is right up there with the lady on the phone being interrogated because she doesn't support BHO, the intimidation to fellow Democrats by the BHO supporters at the caucuses, and the lying reporter who said someone yelled "kill Obama" at a McCain crowd.

All because he dared question the anointed one.

Too bad he's a plumber. If he were a failed CEO who earned almost 9 figures of income while leading a quasi-govt mortgage arm into the ground, he'd be perfect for the Obama campaign.

This is where politics has gone - Paris Hilton stuff. While Obama has his attack dogs going after this character, elderly all over America are trying to figure out which prescriptions they can afford this month. Way to keep your eye on the ball there, Obama.

Daily Kos? Honestly, is that the best you hacks can do? What's next? Wikipedia as a scholarly reference?

Typically, tax liens are settled rather quickly and are last resorts if the employer hasn't complied with garnishment, etc. Why Ohio has been derelict in this is a good question. Strickland's administration has better things to do, I guess. Like try to steal an election?

Define "rather quickly." Provide support that they are settled quite quickly.

I don't understand why you guys are attacking the liberals? They are innocent on this one. This was a conservative person who made a good go at poking holes in Obama tax plans but had it backfire on him. No one is discrediting him, they are simply stating the truth about him. The parts he didn't say to Obama.

Joe was misrepresenting himself from the start.

1. He's a conservative and voted in the Republican Primary
2. He already knew he didn't prefer Obama tax plan so asked a loaded question
3. He is not intending to buy this company anytime soon
4. He doesn't have a license so he can't be the owner of this company
5. He obviously doesn't want to pay any taxes since he is behind on the ones his current obligations. Not wanting more is a no brainer
6. This company wouldn't make over $200K if he did buy it.
7. The company has two employee's so would not be impacted by the health care requirement
8. Oh, and Joe's real name is Samuel.

By the way, point 6 didn't go over well with the local plumbers union which is really who broke this one open. They didn't like being represented as guys that make over $250K/yr since it appears they are gouging their customers. They furthermore don't like non-union guys working in their turf but that is between them.

Mom would say, "oh what tangled web's we weave when first we practice to deceive."

This guy made his own bed trying to put holes in Obama tax plan and now has gone from grace to disgrace. I hope McCain still plans to take him on the campaign tour.

McCain is the one giving tax breaks to 9 figure income people, not Obama. Did you get the candidate wrong?

THIS ELECTION IS ABOUT WHO WILL BE THE BETTER PRESIDENT. I DON'T BELIEVE JOE IS RUNNING.

And yet, our big argument now is about the guy our next president is supposed to be representing, helping, leading?

Why is anyone so ready to discredit the guy that's like...you and me?

Talk about an ugly election....

Ha, ha.

Seriously: how is this guy's $1,138 tax problem going to convince you to vote one way or the other?

This is a page right out of Saul Alinsky's Rules for Radicals. If anyone dares speak out against you destroy them in any way possible as quickly as possible and divert the attention away from you and onto them.

Remember, BHO went to work as a Community Organizer in Chicago following in the vein of Alinsky's Socialist/Communist organization in that city.

In the opening paragraph of Rules for Radicals Alinsky writes, "What follows is for those who want to change the world from what it is to what they believe it should be. The Prince was written by Machiavelli for the Haves on how to hold power. Rules for Radicals is written for the Have-Nots on how to take it away." Classic communist redistribution of wealth...:tonofbricks:

It's not. I'm probably not going to vote for either candidate. I was planning to vote for McCain, but in the past month or so he has lost my vote for a variety of reasons.

Shame on the left and those of you who are part of the dissection of "Joe the Plumber". What is wrong with you... I think most Americans will be angry by this sort of attack. Any level of decency is gone... Chicago politics at it’s finest. "Joe the Plumber" has received more scrutiny than Obama. How many days was it, two...and the poor guy has his life open for the entire public. For what...for standing up for the American dream and what he believes is Socialism. Which by the way is Socialism. God have mercy on America!
