well, Daily Kos has posted up the guys phone # & home address. They will destroy this guy.

Turns out I was right. The worst they can find on the guy is he owes 4 digits of back taxes.

Wurzelbacher instantly became a media celebrity, fielding calls during the debate and facing reporters outside his home near Toledo on Thursday morning for an impromptu nationally televised news conference.
The burly, bald man acknowledged he doesn't have a plumber's license, but said he didn't need one because he works for someone else at a company that does residential work.
But Wurzelbacher still would need to be a licensed apprentice or journeyman to work in Toledo, and he's not, said David Golis, manager and residential building official for the Toledo Division of Building Inspection.
State and local records show Wurzelbacher has no license, although his employer does. Golis said there are no records of inspectors citing Wurzelbacher for unlicensed work in Toledo.
And then there was the matter of his taxes.
Wurzelbacher owes the state of Ohio $1,182.98 in personal income tax, according to Lucas County Court of Common Pleas records.
In January 2007, Ohio's Department of Taxation filed a claim on his property until he pays the debt, according to the records. The lien remains active....

Although this man's privacy should be respected, no one thinks it will in today's world. The ironic thing to me is that it was obvious that McCain was talking in general terms that could be applied to many people in many walks of life.

I don't understand why you guys are attacking the liberals? They are innocent on this one. This was a conservative person who made a good go at poking holes in Obama tax plans but had it backfire on him. No one is discrediting him, they are simply stating the truth about him. The parts he didn't say to Obama.

Joe was misrepresenting himself from the start.

1. He's a conservative and voted in the Republican Primary
2. He already knew he didn't prefer Obama tax plan so asked a loaded question
3. He is not intending to buy this company anytime soon
4. He doesn't have a license so he can't be the owner of this company
5. He obviously doesn't want to pay any taxes since he is behind on the ones his current obligations. Not wanting more is a no brainer
6. This company wouldn't make over $200K if he did buy it.
7. The company has two employee's so would not be impacted by the health care requirement
8. Oh, and Joe's real name is Samuel.

By the way, point 6 didn't go over well with the local plumbers union which is really who broke this one open. They didn't like being represented as guys that make over $250K/yr since it appears they are gouging their customers. They furthermore don't like non-union guys working in their turf but that is between them.

Mom would say, "oh what tangled web's we weave when first we practice to deceive."

This guy made his own bed trying to put holes in Obama tax plan and now has gone from grace to disgrace. I hope McCain still plans to take him on the campaign tour.

I didn't hear this on the news but someone at Work said that this "JOE" guy wasn't even a register voter. Just thought I'd mention that.

....and this is all documented where, the Daily Kos?

It's all over, you can't go to a news site without reading up on Joe. Here is factcheck.org.

* McCain said “Joe the plumber” faced “much higher taxes” under Obama’s tax plan and would pay a fine under Obama’s health care plan if he failed to provide coverage for his workers. But Ohio plumber Joe Wurzelbacher would pay higher taxes only if the business he says he wants to buy puts his income over $200,000 a year, and his small business would be exempt from Obama’s requirement to provide coverage for workers.

Update Oct. 16: ABC News reported the morning after the debate that Wurzelbacher admitted to a reporter that he won't actually make enough from his new plumbing business to pay Obama's higher tax rates. ABC said his admission "would seem to indicate that he would be eligible for an Obama tax cut."

It’s worth noting that while Wurzelbacher told Fox News’ Neil Cavuto that he lives “in a simple, middle class home” and portrayed himself as an ordinary working guy, Wurzelbacher’s $250,000 to $280,000 is a bit higher than "ordinary." In 2007, the last year for which the Census Bureau has figures, the median income for a family in Toledo, Ohio, was $43,553.

Update, Oct. 16: ABC News reported that Wurzelbacher may actually qualify for a tax cut under Obama's plan, and not a tax increase. ABC reported on its Web site the morning after the debate that one of its reporters, Chris Bury, had spoken to Wurzelbacher and that he "acknowledged that he wants to purchase the plumbing business for $250-280,000, not that he would net that much in profits." ABC news quoted him as saying he would make much less than $250,000. If that's correct, then Wurzelbacher based his complaint on a misunderstanding of how Obama's tax plan would affect him. Earlier, Wurzelbacher appeared live on ABC's Good Morning America program and repeated his complaints about higher taxes, but anchor Diane Sawyer did not ask him about his expected profits or question whether his taxes really would go up. We await further clarification..

Then parts from this news organization from the UK

Joe, whose real name is Samuel J Wurzelbacher, sprang to fame after questioning Barack Obama's tax policy.

<snip>

Despite Mr Wurzelbacher's popularity, the advert could backfire, after several holes in his story emerged.

It now appears that he isn't really a licenced plumber and reports have said that court documents show he owes nearly $1,200 in back taxes.

Mr Wurzelbacher has acknowledged he doesn't have a plumber's license, but said he didn't need one because he works for someone else at a company that does residential work.

And then there was the matter of his taxes.

Mr Wurzelbacher owes the state of Ohio $1,182.98 in personal income tax, according to Lucas County Court of Common Pleas records.

Mr Wurzelbacher, a self-described conservative who says he hasn't decided who he will vote for, shot to fame after he spoke to Mr Obama at a rally near his home on Sunday and asked him whether his tax plan would keep him from buying the business that currently employs him, which earns more than $250,000 a year.

"Your new tax plan is going to tax me more, isn't it?" he asked.

Mr Obama said that under his proposal taxes on any revenue from $250,000 on down would stay the same, but that amounts above that level would be subject to a 39 per cent tax, instead of the current 36 per cent rate.

Mr McCain said Mr Obama's plan would stop entrepreneurs such as Wurzelbacher from investing in new small businesses and keep existing ones from growing.

I will digress since it is starting to get out of hand. They are now saying he's not even a plumber but a contractor and he was on a conservative talk radio show comparing Obama to Sammy Davis Jr.

I can't verify these things so I will digress until the truth comes out on this guy.

Shame on the left and those of you who are part of the dissection of "Joe the Plumber". What is wrong with you... I think most Americans will be angry by this sort of attack. Any level of decency is gone... Chicago politics at it’s finest. "Joe the Plumber" has received more scrutiny than Obama.

It depends on what turns out to be true about Joe (or Sam)... Folks will be even madder if this whole thing turns out to be a setup. Talk about dirty politics at it's finest but I was asking myself last night, "plumbers make that much"?

McCain is the one who opened his life to scrutiny when he mentioned him in the debate. If McCain wouldn't have mentioned his name then no one would be looking into his accusations and trick questions.

Now I'll digress... Promise.

I'm wondering if Obama knows the difference between "revenue" and net income.

Of course there is the possibility that he does know the difference and he really does plan on raising taxes for anyone/small business with "revenues" over $250,000.

Joe was seen questioning Obama a day or two before the debate and it was captured on video. Don't try to attack McCain with it. The liberal media already had their minions busy at work trying to destroy this guy because he dared question their anointed one.

THIS ELECTION IS ABOUT WHO WILL BE THE BETTER PRESIDENT. I DON'T BELIEVE JOE IS RUNNING.

And yet, our big argument now is about the guy our next president is supposed to be representing, helping, leading?

Why is anyone so ready to discredit the guy that's like...you and me?

Talk about an ugly election....

McCain referred to him 24 times in the final Presidential debate. He must consider Joe to be very important. That's why it's important to check up on the story.

From the internet about factcheck.org:

There is a disturbing link between Barack Obama, FactCheck.org, and William Ayers. National Review reports that William Ayers and Barack Obama both served as co-chairs of the Chicago Annenburg Challenge.

Obama called for an $3.5 million dollar earmark for the Annenburg Foundation that sponsors FactCheck.org.

Several FactCheck articles have been viewed as promoting the Obama campaign line instead of truly acting as a fact checkers. Controlling the ‘facts’ is a hallmark of a totalitarian regime, and this is truly an unsettling connection.

I promised to digress off Joe...

But McCain brought him up. No one was thinking abut Joe until McCain brought him up in the debate.

So where is the support? The conservatives have accused everyone to be biased against them to include the voting booths so we're really running out of places to call the truth. Please post the link where this "fact" was found so I can take a good look at it.

I found the story on a site called "death by 1000 paper cuts". Was this your source?

looks like the McCain Palin blog site has the article also

That, of course, is the whole point of all the attacks: to distract people from what Obama actually said. The story here is what Obama said, not who asked the question. If Osama bin Laden had asked the question to which Obama answered, "spreading the wealth around is good for everyone," it wouldn't matter. The issue is, do you want a president who wants to 'spread the wealth around?' Or do you want one who actually understands how the economy works and wants to help create jobs and more opprtunity for everyone to earn more of their own wealth?
Obama has admitted, in completely non-spinnable terms, that when it comes to economic matters he is a committed socialist, if not actually a communist. Even if it turns out that Joe the plumber is a serial killer, it would not make the words Obama spoke to him less significant.

Here's a great graphic from a contest.....

Heather Mantovani is a design student who sent us her ideas for helping folks in this politically charged season to better understand fundamental differences in sociopolitical ideals. The first is called “Fish or Fishing Pole?” (.pdf) Heather suggests you fold the card in half and stand it on the TV while watching political debates. After each candidate offers a plan or idea or response, the card reminds you to evaluate whether the candidate is offering you a fish (something to help you only briefly) or offering you a fishing pole (to help you to sustain yourself better from now on). Great idea!

HOLLAND, Ohio – Joe the Plumber's story sprang a few leaks Thursday. Turns out that the man who was held up by John McCain as the typical, hard-working American taxpayer isn't really a licensed plumber. And court documents show he owes nearly $1,200 in back taxes.

State and local records show Wurzelbacher has no license, although his employer does. Golis said there are no records of inspectors citing Wurzelbacher for unlicensed work in Toledo.

Under the GOP's current vote suppression strategy in Ohio, McCain's now famous icon might have had a hard time casting a ballot. In a case that has now gone to the Supreme Court for review, Republicans in the state are challenging the registrations of all new voters whose names and other information do not exactly match those in government databases. It turns out that one of the present Ohio voters who could have fallen into this category is Samuel Joseph Wurzelbacher—or is it Worzelbacher?—otherwise known as Joe the Plumber.

The man John McCain lionized in Wednesday night's debate has since had every aspect of his life scrutinized by the media. They've uncovered some contradictory facts, to say the least: He's not really a plumber, he probably wouldn't pay more taxes under Obama if he bought his business, and he hasn't actually paid some of the taxes he already owes. He's also registered to vote under a different name.

Six-term Sen. Joe Biden’s got some nerve going after Citizen Joe the Plumber. But the entrenched politician from Delaware, who fancies himself the nation’s No. 1 Ordinary Joe, had no choice.

Obama-Biden simply can’t tolerate an outspoken citizen successfully painting the Democratic ticket as socialist overlords. And so a dirty, desperate war against Joe Wurzelbacher is on.

The left’s political plumbers are attacking the messenger, rummaging through his personal life and predictably wielding the race card once again. It’s standard operating procedure for the Obama thug machine.
