What about GW Bush acting like a real pilot on an aircraft carrier when in reality he dodged going to Nam through his father's influence and money? He somehow (?) jumped ahead of a waiting list of 100 men to get in the Air National Guard.I thought it was pretty neat that Kerry had someone film him as he strutted around in a helmet and with a rifle. I thought he was boat commander, so what was up with that? And how about when Kerry through his medals over the fence at the Pentagon during his protesting days? Then, when he became a bigwig in DC, his medals suddenly appear on the wall of his DC office. When asked about it, he said the medals he through over the fence at the Pentagon were someone else's. Yeah, right.
He jumped ahead ? I thought you said he went “awol”.

Here is the actual quote of Trump: “He’s not a war hero,” said Trump. “He was a war hero because he was captured. I like people who weren’t captured.”
I do agree that being a POW does NOT a hero make.
But I would agree that Trump could have been a bit more tactful in what he said.
This is the best summary I've found and it comes from the washington Post.I hear that a lot, but no one has ever produced a shred of credible evidence that it is true. I don't expect you to do so either.
You can say anything if you don't have to prove it, and you frequently do.

At Height of Vietnam Bush Picks Guard
Washingtonpost.com: At Height of Vietnam, Bush Picks Guard
It was May 27, 1968, at the height of the Vietnam War. Bush was 12 days away from losing his student deferment from the draft at a time when Americans were dying in combat at the rate of 350 a week. The unit Bush wanted to join offered him the chance to fulfill his military commitment at a base in Texas. It was seen as an escape route from Vietnam by many men his age, and usually had a long waiting list.
Bush had scored only 25 percent on a "pilot aptitude" test, the lowest acceptable grade. But his father was then a congressman from Houston, and the commanders of the Texas Guard clearly had an appreciation of politics.
Staudt and other Guard commanders insist no favoritism was shown to him. But others active in Texas politics in the 1960s say the Texas National Guard was open to string-pulling by the well-connected, and there are charges that the then-speaker of the Texas legislature helped George W. gain admittance.
In addition to Bush and Bentsen, many socially or politically prominent young men were admitted to the Air Guard, according to former officials; they included the son of then-Sen. John Tower and at least seven members of the Dallas Cowboys.
And there's the problem with politics today. People chose teams and ignore what is true. Why ya pick'n on him? He's on your team.

He seems more likeable but I'll never call him a decent president. he was actually the front man. Cheney, Rumsfeld and the Wolfowitz crowd (Neo-Cons) ran the show. Like some others here I believe in the deep state. I put the CIA and these members of the GW Bush administration in the category of likely suspects.Bush is a media darling right now. Why ya pick'n on him? He's on your team.
I see. So people right next to the situation who would know best say no favoritism was shown, but politicians in the state of Texas knew better.
Yeah, that sounds plausible.

Even 20, 30, 40 years later? And you know this...how?The National Guard commanders are not going to admit favoritism unless perhaps under oath.
What would they say today if asked the same question? Yes, we moved GHW Bush's son above an existing waiting list for political reasons? And we do the same thing for wealthy people? My judgment is they would not that unless under oath. If your judgment is they would offer that information we disagree. Is that the case?Even 20, 30, 40 years later? And you know this...how?

What is a front man? The only thing Bush did that was positive was appoint 2 pro-life judges. Are you pro-life? I'm guessing you want to keep abortion like Obama did.
