Reading the soul winners fire and came across this quote

That every Christian ought to win souls second that we ought to have a holy passion A tearful and compelling earnestness an apostolic ferver of soul and third we must have a divine enablement of the Holy Spirit

Preface third paragraph

I agree with this quote. I hope this book will be easy to understand and not too dry like some Reformed books on evangelism are.

Update. I have highlighted a bit. Book is better than I thought. Well written and the author has a PASSION. Not dry and academic like some other evangelism books in my library are. Also it's not too long. Comforts books WOTM and Hells best kept secret are too long.

and that's exactly, how I see John of Japan. He has good academic, yet not dry - and keeps his posts to the point - long enough to understand, but not too long to be boring.

I'm glad you are reading this. All of John R. Rice's books are that way. He wrote with deep conviction, compassion for the lost, and love for his Savior.

A friend of mine said of your granddad's books, "He always puts the cookies on the bottom shelf so everybody can reach them." :)
I love it. :)

And he told me personally that he wrote that way to reach the widest possible audience for his books.

I think I've told this elsewhere on the BB, but he once told me that Barnhouse had said of his books, "John R. Rice writes for idiots." And JRR said, tongue in cheek, "There must be a lot of idiots out there, because my books are selling well."

A.W. Pink's books have sold a lot more than those of J.R.R. And A.W.P's theology was much closer to that of C.H. Spurgeon. In addition his passion for souls was not in the least compromised by his theological convictions.

After a long examination. He wrote 18 articles on the subject between Jan. of 1933 and June of 1934.

Philip Mauro was another prominent Christian who came out against Dispensationalism. DML-J came out against it in 1954.
