Justified in the Name of the Lord Jesus !
1 Cor 6:11
11 And such were some of you: but ye are washed, but ye are sanctified, but ye are justified in the name of the Lord Jesus, and by the Spirit of our God.
Declared righteous for His Names Sake, because of His Person and Work. This echoes Gods Promise from the Prophet Isaiah Isa 45:25
In the Lord shall all the seed of Israel be justified, and shall glory.
BTW the Seed Of Israel is but another way of saying the Seed of Abraham, or Abrahams Seed. Lets look at 2 Chron 20:7
Art not thou our God, who didst drive out the inhabitants of this land before thy people Israel, and gavest it to the seed of Abraham thy friend for ever?
The Seed of Abraham here is the same as Israel. And again Isa 41:8
Art not thou our God, who didst drive out the inhabitants of this land before thy people Israel, and gavest it to the seed of Abraham thy friend for ever?
And both Jew and Gentile Believers who belong to Christ are Abrahams Seed Gal 3:29
And if ye be Christ's, then are ye Abraham's seed/Israel, and heirs according to the promise.
Those in 1 Cor 6:11 were Justified in the Name of the Lord Jesus, they are also Israel, the Seed of Israel promised to be Justified in the Lord.
Now the whole point of this is to show that those Christ died for were Justified in His Name alone apart from their believing in Him, though that would come to pass later based upon the Divine Promise "The Just/Justified SHALL live by Faith"
Faith will be given by the Spirit to all whom have been Justified in the Person and Work of Christ !
You keep missing the obvious, "Abraham
believed God, and
it was accounted to him for righteousness." And to make sure you got this point, that faith come first then righteousness from God, the Holy Spirit put in scripture three times Rom 4:3, Gal 3:6 & Jas 2:23
You refer to Abraham as an example and so does Paul.
Rom 4:23 Now the words “it was credited to him” were written not only for Abraham,
Rom 4:24 but also for us, to whom righteousness will be credited—for us who believe in Him who raised Jesus our Lord from the dead.
Rom 4:25
He was delivered over to death for our trespasses and
was raised to life for our justification.
So we see that one is justified by the risen Christ. Paul states this again here:
1Co 15:13 But if there is no resurrection of the dead, not even Christ has been raised;
1Co 15:14 and
if Christ has not been raised, then our preaching is vain, your faith also is vain.
1Co 15:15 Moreover we are even found to be false witnesses of God, because we testified against God that He raised Christ, whom He did not raise, if in fact the dead are not raised.
1Co 15:16 For if the dead are not raised, not even Christ has been raised;
1Co 15:17 and
if Christ has not been raised, your faith is worthless; you are still in your sins.
But the question remains, for whom did Christ died?
Joh 3:17 For God did not send His Son into the world to condemn the world, but to save
the world through Him.
eb 2:9 But we see Jesus, who was made a little lower than the angels, now crowned with glory and honor because He suffered death, so that by the grace of God He might taste death for
everyone.
1Jn 2:2
He Himself is the atoning sacrifice for our sins, and not only for ours but also
for the sins of the whole world.
Rom 5:6 For at just the right time, while we were still powerless,
Christ died for the ungodly.
And a further question remains, why would God send His only Son to die for sinful man?
Joh 3:16
For God so loved the world that He gave His one and only Son, that
everyone who believes in Him shall not perish but
have eternal life.
1Ti 2:3
This is good and pleasing in the sight of God our Savior,
1Ti 2:4
who wants everyone to be saved and to come to the knowledge of the truth.
So if God wants to save then how and why does He save anyone?
Rom 1:16 I am not ashamed of
the gospel, because it is the power of God for salvation to everyone who believes, first to the Jew, then to the Greek.
Eph 1:13 And in Him,
having heard and believed the word of truth—
the gospel of your salvation—you were sealed with the promised Holy Spirit,
So we see that Abraham was declared righteous because of his faith and we are saved by God because of our faith.
Eph 2:8 For it is
by grace you have been saved through faith, and this not from yourselves; it is the gift of God,
So your conclusion is wrong.
