Alcoot, I believe it's the level of difference along with what you define as different. You and I are not much different, it's just I'm better looking than you!
Even when I stick my tongue out, so I was wrong, I am twice as good looking as you.

The same way the translators of the KJV1611 said that even the meanest copy is God's word.

You do respect what they say don't you?
Here's what your beloved translators say about other versions,
"Now to the latter we answer; that we do not deny, nay we affirm and avow, that the very meanest translation of the Bible in English, set forth by men of our profession, (for we have seen none of theirs of the whole Bible as yet) containeth the word of God, nay, is the word of God

Of course since you use the 1611 language, you know that the word "meanest" means poorest.
If you just thought the NIV was a poor translation, you'd get no argument from me. But to slander it and call it not the word of God, goes beyond logic.
I'd bet you think that Satan puts people up to reading the Bible (NIV)too.

misquoting again are we? so do you hold your pants up with a rod?

There is a difference between spanking and beating with a foriegn object, which when I worked for the Child Advocates office here in WV, was considered child abuse.
Interesting.
I love kids and hate to see them abused.

And when a father pulls off his belt in anger, and you hear snap, snap, snap as it comes through his belt loops and he strikes his poor little defenseless child over and over again, just because he's too lazy to pull them to the side and explain what they did wrong, That's abuse. I remember those days!

Did a shepherd strike his sheep with the rod?
no! He guided them.
BTW it should read,
"Pro 13:24 If you love your children, you will correct them; if you don't love them, you won't correct them."
No child abuse there!! There is a diff. between correction and abuse.

tiny, uh, get a grip, man, he just called you fat.

Also, get a grip on the Preface thing. The KJB translators used the "as yet" in reference to the then and now, uh, then, not now. Also you will find they were referring to holy men, now define unholy, uh, "w/h" come to mind?

The "then and now" of 1611 was in reference to thos etranslations being attempted within thier time frame, uh ,1608 come to mind?

See, I do know some things, I'll take my honorary now. Uh, the Preface "method of attack" is quickly put to shame when you look at things in the proper perspective, so don't stay up too late trying to weasel another way around it. Rather large weasel at that! From a rather large weasel to another rather large weasel. Oh! I almost forgot!
;) :D

FAT!!!!! What me? :D
No way, a Christian would never insult another brother like that, would they?

I tried the Atkins diet for 1 day.
Didn't work. so I gave it up.

Besides I'm not fat, just fluffy

As for the preface, I do believe that they would apply the same principles today as they did then.
If they believed the meanest copies were the word of God then, they would now. Just my opinion, no way to prove it.

As for debating tonight. I'm not really in the mood now.
I can't believe someone called me fat.

Overweight, slightly large, skinny challenged, Wide load, maybe, but never fat.

My wife pestered me until I posted this:

TLB, My wife says to tell you that she is KJBPreferred, and in her KJB it talks about how a person shouldn't judge, that God is the only judge. But, it also says that you can tell people by the fruits they bare. And by the "atkins" slander, you appear childish. Very childish. What kind of influence is your church allowing you to be when you pick up kids on your bus route?

She also says that she was raised KJVO, and was taught, that it is a sin to slander other people. And she says that if all KJVO's act like you, she's grabing a NIV.

TLB, here's a link you should like. They sound like you. you should be at home.

I should thank you for opening my wife's eyes.
Just hope she doesn't get new glasses and see that I'M FAT. :D

Hey, Bro.tinytim~Please don't be "offended" by the fat jokes...sometimes the Lord has a way of getting one's attention! ahem....

My oldest daughter just had a wake-up call to get her "excess" off...I'd been telling her for years, but she wouldn't listen to mama, no, but she's listening now-after a stay in the charity "horsepital" with what she thought was a heart attack. Turned out to be a hiatal hernia.

She's promised to get it off & keep it off. I've lost over 150# & am heading for the svelte 110 I weighed on my wedding day! (Trying to make 10mi, walking, but so far can only do 8).

My testimony's improved remarkably & I don't have to carry my belly around in a wheelbarrow, haha!

Oh, I'm not offended by jokes. Why. my screenname came about by a joke from a youth group about 6 years ago.

But I do get offended when someone isn't joking.
And they say stuff in a demeaning way.

Putting people down by there outside appearance is not being Christ like. I wonder if Christ ever slammed someone because they we're overweight.

I know I should lose weight, and have been watching what I eat lately.

Thank you.

1st John 5:7 and 13 also.
You KNOW it`s not...you just must rebel...which
is as the sin of witchcraft.

Well, I THOUGHT I wuz thru wid dis thread, but that's whut I git fer THINKIN'...

OK, TLB-Every BV I have has both thieves crucified with Jesus reviling Him in Mark, while Luke has one reviling Him & the other asking Jesus to remember him. That's just about as diametrically opposed as one can get, but yet we believe both accounts are Scripture. Why? We know they were written by different men. Same with the mss that contain the Johannine Comma & those that don't-written by different people in different times & places. You have no basis to fully accept one while fully rejecting the other, any more than you would have if you rejected the Gospel of Mark while accepting the Gospel of Luke because it contained more material that was possibly "omitted" by Mark.

But Mark says both reviled Him & that's far as it goes. Did Mark omit material, same as the KJVO set says the MVs & some of the mss do? Or, does the same explanation fit both the Gospels AND the various mss? It HAS to be one or the other.

The Ripper is a nick for Gail (God And) Riplinger, who's learned all about the New Age Conspiracy through her education in interior design.

Advocating the KJVO myth with G.A.R.'s books is like going deer hunting with your accordion.
