Well, at least you admit that you worship a bible. I don't think I have ever actually seen a Christian put that in print before.

I also have one God, the Creator and Sustainer of the Universe, my Lord and Saviour. I am grateful that He has chosen to communicate with me through His word.

Did I read that right? is he worshipping the Bible? or did he mean his God was the God of the King James Bible?

He may want to clarify that statement

I thought it was very clear - "I have one God - the King James Bible."

I clarifies with his statement from John 1v1 that "the Word was God" and states that anyone who more than one version is a polytheist.

He claims that the "Word" In John 1 is not Jesus, but the KJB, which would mean that the KJB was with God at the beginning.

Wow! Bold statement. Wonder if he has documentation to back that statement up.

First, lemme say, Pastor Anderson, that like virtually ALL KJVOs, you avoid the "WHERE'S THE SCRIPTURE?" question like a dose of castor oil. What are you guys ashamed of? Whatarya trying to hide?

KJVO is a theory about Scripture. To get outta the theory/myth/guesswork bucket, it MUST have SCRIPTURAL SUPPORT! Otherwise, one is trying to place that doctrine ABOVE SCRIPTURE!

This exactly what I said the purpose of the article was not: to discuss KJV only-ism.

In other words, we're supposta just accept your article as written, with no opposition? Yeah, RIIIGHT!

The discussion was meant to be with those who believe the Bible,

Everyone here believes the Bible. What mosta us do NOT believe is the man-made KJVO myth.

not with confused people whose authority is several different Bibles and texts.

It appears YOU are your own authority, reaching into a hat, pulling out one version, & declaring "This is IT!" without the first quark of SCRIPTURAL SUPPORT from that version. Without Scriptural support, what's your basis for being KJVO?

You are your own authority - you may as well be God since you decide what the truth is after looking at all your assortments of translations and texts.

That's exactly what YOU have done! Picked-N-Chosen! You cannot deny it! Without SCRIPTURAL SUPPORT, you're juse GUESSING.

I have one God - the King James Bible

I could use the nine-letter "B" word here, but your error is so obvious that I shall let it speak for itself. You seem to think the words are greater than the Speaker of them.

    - not 10 different Gods who all say things a little differently.

The same thing is found in the KJV and every other valid Bible version. Was Jehoiachin age 8 or 18 when he began to reign?

Anyone who uses multiple Bibles (e.g. a KJV and an NIV) is polytheistic because they believe in more than one God (In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word WAS God!)

Sinse WHEN did Bibles become gods and not the WORDS of THE God?

Do you actually believe that the apostle Paul used 2 different versions of the OT? That is nonsense.

Do you KNOW he didn't? How can you PROVE it?

But I know JESUS HIMSELF used a different version of Isaiah besides what is translated into the KJV. Simply compare what JESUS READ ALOUD in Luke 4:16-21 with what's written in Isaiah 42:7 & in Isaiah 61:1-3. Then, come back and tell us JESUS used the wrong version. If He didn't, then the KJV men musta translated the wrong version, right? The only other plausible explanation is the OBVIOUS one...GOD IS NOT LIMITED TO JUST ONE VERSION!

Again...Sonce the KJVO myth is about Scripture, it MUST BE SUPPORTED by Scripture in order to be true. WHERE'S THE SCRIPTURAL SUPPORT FOR THE KJVO DOCTRINE? IF YOU WANT ANYONE TO BELIEVE A WORD YOU SAY, DON'T IGNORE THIS QUESTION AGAIN! Your God=KJV has destroyed 99/100 of your credibility anyway.

I think it is safe to assume that Mr. Anderson will not be engaging in an honest discussion.

Forgive me for hoping he was more than a drive by. His article is mush, and his premise is simply untrue.

I guess he would say that since Jim Elliott and the other missionaries to Ecuador used the Geneva Bible and the KJV, that they worshiped 2 Gods? Sorry, that is asinine.

C4K, this thread can be closed. Now that Mr. Anderson has shown his colors, I highly doubt he will engage.

I think Jn. 1:1 is talking about deity of Jesus, not the Bible.

Nobody can really believe John 1:1 is referring to a bible translation, can they?

In John the word "word" denotes the essential Word of God, Jesus Christ, the personal wisdom and power of God in human form. Its use speaks in respect to the mind and reason, the mental faculty of thinking, meditating, reasoning, and calculating as being that of God.

The Greek word "logos" (translated "word" in John 1:1) is where we get our English word "logic."

The other Greek word which can also be translated "word" when referring to the written word, such as the bible, is "rhema" which is translated "word" 56 times in the KJV. The bible is the "rhema." Jesus is the "logos."

I think Mr. Anderson should not only study his bible a bit more, he should study grammar and syntax, and just a little logic!

Well Doc, Mr. Anderson really doesn't care what the Greek says, since he bellieves God prerved His word perfectly in the language of the KJV.

I have a hard time believing that this could be a genuine belief. I am sure our brother misspoke and would like to give him a chance to clarify things for us. Surely a Christian does not believe that the KJB is God?

He sounds a little confused as I am listening to a message

"Jesus is the Word of God + The Bible is the Word of God = The Bible is Jesus, Jesus is the Bible"

is the reasoning he uses to come up with this.

And if he truly believes the KJB is the only word of God we get the reasoning

Jesus is the Word of God + the Bible is the Word of God + The King James Version is the only Bible + Jesus is God = The KJB is God

    Is it clear now?

I have NO PROBLEM believing that he really believes this. Havent you read Riplinger and Ruckman and the like? Hardcore KJVO will often accept any idea in order to defend KJVO, as we have seen time and time again.

I feel Mr. Anderson was crystal clear.

I have a hard time understanding how using the Greek to help me understand a passage is any different than using a commentary or talking it over with a friend or reading a devotional on the topic.

    What DHK said! [IMG]

    Anyway.
It's not like most those who aren't native speakers of English (like me) get much out of the KJB.

I have asked Pastor Anderson, both publicly and pricately, to meet me on any other board where KJVO discussions are not restricted, to discuss his doctrine with me. So far, he hasn't replied. He KNOWS I'm gonna ask him for SCRIPTURAL SUPPORT for KJVO.

    Roby,

I dont even thrink I would begin there. Honestly, considering his statements here, I'd start in Romans and work from there.

With the author's permission, and agreeing with his reasoning, this thread is closed.

If Pastor Anderson would like a thread to defend his view that his God is the King James Bible he is free to start one.
