It's interesting that Van quotes himself as saying regarding Mark 1:41 :Jesus was indignant should read, "moved with anger."

Yet on 10/23/2015 he said : Yes, I believe the verse (Mark 1:41) should read moved with compassion.

It's fascinating how he plays both ends of the field.

Van, in your post # 47 you reposted your list of 24 verses. It's a mystery why you included John 1:16 since you said that the NIV rendering was no more flawed than many other versions." Then you gave your particular "should read" Van-version.

On two attempts, and two only you took a stab, however ineffectually, with :
Acts 13:50 and Col. 1:28. I don't agree with your thinking --but you made a go for it.

Yet for the remaining 21 verses you simply repeated the vain phrase of "It should read" with nothing further said by you. You gave no explanation at all, despite my constant urging for you to do so.
Still waiting for a response as to why you have not given any reasons at all for more than a score of verses when you brazenly insist that they "should be" rendered your way.

Returning to topic, here is the summary of faults identified so far in the LEB:

1) Matthew 23:13 - "wanting to go in" should read "those entering."
2) Mark 1:41 - "becoming angry" should be footnoted with "other MSS read "filled with compassion."
3) Mark 11:31 - "what should we say" should not be added to the text.
4) Romans 3:25 - mercy seat should read "propitiatory shelter."
5) 1 Corinthians 14:37 - "command" should be in the text rather than footnote.
6) 1 Corinthians 16:13 - "act courageously" should read "act like men."
7) Ephesians 1:11 - "we were chosen" should read "obtained an inheritance."
8) 2 Thessalonians 3:6 - "lives irresponsibly" should read "walks in an undisciplined way."
9) Philemon 1:6 - "[I pray] that the fellowship of your faith may become effective in the knowledge [of] every good [thing] that [is] in us for Christ" should read "I pray that your participation in the faith may be effective in deepening your understanding of every blessing that belongs to you in Christ."
10) Hebrews 1:3 - "through him" should not be added to the text without brackets.
11) Hebrews 2:9 - "apart from God" should read "by the grace of God"
12) James 2:5 - [to be] should read [yet] because "rich in faith" is a complement of those chosen.

#1 --Van has been taken to task by a number of BB members numerous times for his highly suspect interpretation of this text. He twists the texts to suit his theological agenda.
# 4 --merely his subjective opinion --it carries no weight
# 6 --just his idea --it isn't authoritative
#8 --it's just his idea --it carries no weight
#9 --it's his idea wherein he culled together the NIV,HCSB and NET renderings together. His excessive use of brackets makes it very impractical.
# 10 -- just his thought
# 12 --just his completely lone thought

Van would like his renderings standardized. But in that he has no background or talent regarding the ideas he has put forward --and no justification for his interpretations --they merit no serious contemplation. Merely stating "should read" is not an explanation. But he rests on that platform time and again.

Hath not God chosen the poor - That is, are not they whom God hath chosen, generally speaking, poor in this world? who yet are rich in faith, and heirs of the kingdom - Consequently, the most honorable of men: and those whom God so highly honors, ought not ye to honor likewise? James 2:5 notes from Wesley.

The premise that the faults identified in the LEB are not supported by many translations and commentaries is false.

The particular idea of yours that the LEB is at fault because it does not use your particular pet phrase is without warrant. It occurs in no Bible translation. In explaining the text Wesley could use those words as could any preacher. However, it does not mean that every translation is wrong when they word it differently from your view.
