Two things, the only reason anyone has anything against Catholics or the Church is because of misunderstandings about the Church. Christianity is worldwide, because of the Catholic Church. It is the main Christian denomination in the world. It is the original church. It invented hospitals, the University system, medical school, the free-market economic theory, the seven-note musical scale, scientific method, mechanized production, genetics, the slide rule, atomic physics, astronomy, seismology, it discovered the acceleration of gravity, that planetary orbits are elliptical, that the world began at some point; it is responsible for building Western civilization!
The US Constitution is based on Roman Catholic doctrine. If it wasn't for the Church, there wouldn't be any Protestant denominations, because Christianity would have died out. Every Protestant has the Catholic Church to thank for his/her Christianity. Without Roman Catholicism, the world would be much worse.
However, those who reject Roman Catholicism on the basis of contrived deception are cheating themselves out of a treasure trove of information, because virtually every ancient book we have today was preserved by the Catholic Church. The Church made the Bible!
The other thing is hypocrites. The world is not full of hypocrites. If a person commits sin, but then advises other people not to commit the same sin, that is an act of mercy. The person is not a hypocrite for doing that. What Jesus referred to as a hypocrite was someone who played the part of holiness, but only for personal gain. Inwardly, they had no reverence for God, and they used the Jewish law for their own gain, by exempting themselves from it.
A hypocrite is an actor, which is the true meaning of the word. NOT SOMEONE WHO COMMITS SIN THAT THEY ADVISE OTHERS AGAINST. If I'm an alcoholic, and I see my nephew getting drunk, so I tell him, "Don't do it! Don't you ever get drunk again, kid! But I'm drunk at the time. That is not hypocrisy. Anyone with that understanding is wrong!
