Lenten Fish dinners

I have no problems joining with my brothers and sisters in Christ who are part of the RCC. 
I'm always up for some good fish!

Because every batter-dipped and deep fried piece of fish you buy allows those evil catholics to buy one more beer to give to a kid at their version of VBS---aka vacation BINGO school.
So enjoy that tasty piece of scrod tail now because when they are all in the Lake of Fire after all us baptists are raptured away, they won't be able to cook fish any more.

Absolutely not! Our Baptist Church has a quarterly fish fry. Our church members go out and catch, clean, and cook the catfish themselves...we invite whosoever will come and don't charge a cent. Why should I support the Roman Catholic church anyway?

Why did you have to bring this up? I've need a LJS fix for years now. They closed all the ones in my city and the next closest is a 60 mile drive....We have Captain D's, but it's just not the same.

Sorry bout that, 60 miles away isn't that bad of a drive, better do it before gas hits $4.00 a gallon. :laugh: Agree though about Captain D's, I don't care much for it either.

I love Long John Silvers! Sadly, we only have a Captain Ds around here.
We do have a fish place called Catfish Cabin about a half a mile down the road from where we live.
The Catholic church started LENT in A.D. 998, long before they originated Christmas, and Easter. In A.D. 100o they started the Holy Water bit.
I personally enjoy Catfish any day of the year.

Actually, I have several fish places that I eat at, and, the RCC is not one of them.
However, having grown up in a RCC environment, I remember lent, fish Friday's, Father John's Castor Oil, and other traditional rituals.
In fact, one of my fondest memories of the RCC was the neat finger bowls they provided at the entrance to their sanctuaries. As a child, it allowed me to wash off my sticky fingers before I sat down in a pew and listened to the priest speak in Latin, which always seemed like Greek to me :laugh:
Thank God I had Jesus introduced to me, allowing me to break away from that environment. I would never trade my relationship with Jesus for a religion again!
For those who love LJS's, the rumor is, it's going belly up. It's owners, Pizza Hut/Taco Bell/KFC are selling it, and A&W Root Beer, as they are no longer making enough profit to keep around. And that is a shame, because I love LJS's fish, too!

I'm old enough to remember when the Catholics stopped the matter of eating fish on Friday. It made the National News. About this same time they dropped the Latin thing.
I witnessed to an 80 year old man a few years ago (born and raised Catholic) and he assured me that he was saved and going to heaven. Reason being, when he was three years old he drowned and his mother was able to bring him back to life..., so he knew he was saved.
A good friend of mine (co-worker) also Catholic, was hit in Vietnam. He told of having an out-of-body experience while he was being treated at the aid-station just prior to being air-lifted out and he floated over the area where the fire fight was still going on. As such, he knew he was saved. He passed away in 2005.
