NoDo you think it is proper?
Phoebe was a low Deacon. Not an administrative Deacon.
I save liberal for a theological position. Why not?

If you don't think it is proper, why not?
Look at my last post on page 1.What is an "admin" deacon??
and yes - for the moment serving communion is not a major problem.
in fact lately, we just sit at the Sunday school tables for the "message"
Catholics have communionStill get the emails from SBC church I used to attend. Today the "deacons and their wives will be distributing communion elements.".
Women distributing communion?
Never heard of this in a fundamental church.
Your point?Catholics have communion

I did not read anything from MacArthur, yet it is still not a distinction the Bible ever makes. Even here you are arguing from a philosophical perspective, not a textual evidence in scripture. The Bible does indeed make the distinction.
I linked many times on here the series where MacArthur proves it beyond any reasonable doubt. No one on here has ever refuted what he said. Some just conveniently forget it.
If all a Deacon did was distribute food, there would be no need for him to have near identical qualifications of a Bishop.

So reading this and reading Paul's comments about Phoebe, she would have had an administrative role as a deacon (assuming your idea of varying types of deacons has any biblical merit, which MacArthur doesn't do a great job of being convincing).
I tend to agree with what Christ Jesus in Gal 3:28 "...there is neither male nor female; for you are all one in Christ Jesus". I think to much is made of this no women in this or that position since. That, to me, seems to be more of a tradition thing than a biblical thing.

In a denomination I used to belong to(baptist but different than the missionary Baptist church I attend now) the women served the women and the men served the men. It was deacons and their wives who did this.Still get the emails from SBC church I used to attend. Today the "deacons and their wives will be distributing communion elements.".
