"...Ban knives and give police officers more flexibility to stop and frisk anyone..."

...Wow... What's next, screwdrivers? Hammers? Rocks?

Banning matches and cigarette lighters should reduce the crime of arson!

How any people could condone this attack on their basic liberty to be secure in their persons, houses, papers, and effects, against unreasonable searches and seizures, is beyond me.

It is a shame that we wasted those 4 years and countless American lives defeating Nazism just to have England do the same thing to themselves 70 years later.

Mayor Khan says there is no reason to carry a knife. Now, I carry a 3 inch knife every day, and I use it at least once per day and some days I use it many times doing many different things which has never included stabbing another person.

The Mayor says knives are banned, so I have to wonder if I go in to a steakhouse in London, will I just have to use my teeth and tear off hunks of meat in the appropriate size to chew?

Does a British subject have that protection?

How about a pen knife?

Don't some states ban switchblades?

I think the Brits went overboard on their ban but I am glad that they stepped in to try and stop black gangs from murdering each other.

Samuel Johnson said in part that when a man is tired of London, he is tired of life....

I myself am just tired of European liberalism. Europe is a step down.

This is a reference to banning knives in public places. It has already been an offence for many years to have a 'bladed article' in your possession in public without lawful excuse (for example, if I was going fishing I would have a lawful excuse), and the police have had powers to stop and search for many years on reasonable suspicion that a crime has been committed, including possession of a knife. They have refrained from exercising these powers in recent years because of fears of offending the black community who were disproportionately the subjects of stop and search. All that Khan has done is reverse that policy ie: tell the police to do their jobs

It's not the knife, it's the type of people who are committing all this mayhem. Funny how stuff like this never used to happen before all the immigration from British commonwealth nations happened.

In 2013, U.S. District Court Judge Shira A. Scheindlin ruled that New York City police violated the U.S. Constitution in its stop-and-frisk program. She called it “a form of racial profiling” of young black and Hispanic men.

I believe NYPD was forced to stop their stop and frisk policy. Of, course, I believe that was also followed by an increase in the crime rate for certain offenses.

Hmm...racist comment, much?

I suppose you've never heard of the Kray Twins and their ilk, then? It's poverty that's linked to violent crime not skin colour

However it was effective albeit a violation. Why would the Brits consern themselves with the US Constitution. In fact, they should hire Retied Commissioner Bratton to implement it over there...think he is looking for a job
