My daughter wants to be a journalist. She has the ability and the aptitude to succeed at that and I for one as a good dad am not going to allow opinions like yours based on a flawed fundamentalist interpretation of the Bible to tell her she can't do that. Because - and thanks be to God for this! - we no longer live in an age where such obnoxious sexist attitudes (along with slavery, segragation and other forms of racism ) are no longer allowed to flourish and have rightly been consigned to the dustbin of history; I'm heartily glad that my daughter can set her mind on any job she's wants and not be told patronisingly "you can't do that: you're a girl".

As you are a Liberal, I understand that you are willfully ignorant of God's Word, but surely you understand that reproduction isn't a "man-made rule". It's God, not man, that wants women pregnant. men prefer their women toned, not bulging with baby.

For the record, I agree with you (except perhaps in stereotyping the US). That said, I do believe that men and women still have different roles in the family structure.

Thanks - I was hyperbolically exaggerating somewhat and had more in mind the sort of Plymouth Brethren set up my wife was forced to endure whilst growing up rather than anything specifically American, where women weren't allowed to go on to further education because, 'quite clearly', God's Word said that was 'worldly knowledge', and were married off at 17-18 to churn out a new child every year like some kind of baby factory
