Man convicted of a gender hate speech crime

He seems to be doing just that, and if that is correct, I pity his poor daughter.
I ask you again what you mean by that.

My daughter wants to be a journalist. She has the ability and the aptitude to succeed at that and I for one as a good dad am not going to allow opinions like yours based on a flawed fundamentalist interpretation of the Bible to tell her she can't do that. Fundamentalism is the same the world over in its oppression of women: just look at Saudi Arabia and Iran.

Did they just put themselves in jail then?

Oh, you Labourites are beyond the pale of logic on this issue. You are worried about words but do not want to protect your children from physical attack until forced to act due to bad publicity. You need to stop islamic immigration immediately and suggest that the Germans have better welfare than you unless you want to make the UK like Malmo?

If your posts are any indication of how you've raised your daughter, I do indeed pity her. I pity your daughter because her father is more concerned with the currant cultural narrative than he is in seeking to understood God's desires for her, him, and the world at large.

Most people on BB think I'm too theologically liberal, and you think I'm backward hick. I'm neither. My fundamentals are God's Word, rightly divided.

There is a bias against Fundamentalists and Evangelicals.

I think you are crossing a line talking about other people’s kids.

See post #29. He specifically brought his daughter and how he parents into the debate.

Because - and thanks be to God for this! - we no longer live in an age where such obnoxious sexist attitudes (along with slavery, segragation and other forms of racism ) are no longer allowed to flourish and have rightly been consigned to the dustbin of history; I'm heartily glad that my daughter can set her mind on any job she's wants and not be told patronisingly "you can't do that: you're a girl".

That's a gross insult to me and my daughter. I'd rather she fulfils her God-given potential than be subject to the man-made rules of the 'Christian' equivalent of the Taliban that would keep her gestating chained to the kitchen sink

As you are a Liberal, I understand that you are willfully ignorant of God's Word, but surely you understand that reproduction isn't a "man-made rule". It's God, not man, that wants women pregnant. men prefer their women toned, not bulging with baby.

And God blessed them. And God said to them, “Be fruitful and multiply and fill the earth and subdue it, and have dominion over the fish of the sea and over the birds of the heavens and over every living thing that moves on the earth.”

And that's an insult to American traditionalism and the biblical idea of family structure. We don't use chains any more.

I am not 'wilfully ignorant' of God's Word, I study it diligently daily. I just don't share your fundie interpretation of it which apparently needs personal insults to back it up and lend it legitimacy. Do you see the difference?

Oh, the irony. . . You could cut it with a knife. . .

I see there is no withdrawal of the slur on me and my daughter. That tells me you have a morally bankrupt argument

We've moved on, thanks be to God
Yes, thanks to God and the invisible fence no chains required.

For the record, I agree with you (except perhaps in stereotyping the US). That said, I do believe that men and women still have different roles in the family structure.

Thanks - I was hyperbolically exaggerating somewhat and had more in mind the sort of Plymouth Brethren set up my wife was forced to endure whilst growing up rather than anything specifically American, where women weren't allowed to go on to further education because, 'quite clearly', God's Word said that was 'worldly knowledge', and were married off at 17-18 to churn out a new child every year like some kind of baby factory
