I'm not denying the Nazis didn't consolidate power by cracking down on the free press. I am saying that the description of when it went down in your source material is flawed.The quote from the National Holocaust memorial Museum says:
"During the first weeks of 1933, the Nazi regime deployed the radio, press, and newsreels to stoke fears of a pending “Communist uprising,” then channeled popular anxieties into political measures that eradicated civil liberties and democracy."
I don't see a definitive date here. You might have a point that "during the first few weeks of 1933" is misleading when compared to Jan. 31, 1933." I don't see the significance of that. You have provided nothing that refutes the methods used by the Nazi's to consolidate power which are the same as those Trump has used, namely to discredit the free press in America. I've read "The Rise and Fall of the Third Reich as well." it is a definitive history of that period.
Trump is not enacting a new law granting him powers to incarcerate journalists, confiscate their printing presses, and physically torturing opposition politicos.
