From the article:

"the Methodists’ regional Annual Conference is paying $250,000 to restart the church. They have hired a specialist...Jeremy Peters."

"Peters, 30, has moved to Cottage Grove with his wife and two children. He is...laying the groundwork for the relaunch, probably in November."

"The older members will not be physically barred from attending, said Peters. But the expectation is that they will not....'For this to be truly new, we can’t have [them]'."
I can save them their money for a new plan for their local church, just start reading the Bible, and do what God proscribes for "church growth"

Not only are the elderly supposed to be included but visited as well....

Pure religion and undefiled before God and the Father is this, To visit the fatherless and widows in their affliction, and to keep himself unspotted from the world. - James 1:27

Why are you muddying the issue by quoting scripture?

Just wondering.

They dont backslide. Its hard to backslide if you are not saved in the first place
And my people are bent to backsliding from me: though they called them to the most High, none at all would exalt him.- Hosea 11:7
Why then is this people of Jerusalem slidden back by a perpetual backsliding? they hold fast deceit, they refuse to ret - Jeremiah 8:5
O Lord, though our iniquities testify against us, do thou it for thy name's sake: for our backslidings are many; we have sinned against thee. -Jeremiah 14:7
The Lord said also unto me in the days of Josiah the king, Hast thou seen that which backsliding Israel hath done? she is gone up upon every high mountain and under every green tree, and there hath played the harlot. - Jeremiah 3:6

For if God spared not the natural branches, take heed lest he also spare not thee. Behold therefore the goodness and severity of God: on them which fell, severity; but toward thee, goodness, if thou continue in his goodness: otherwise thou also shalt be cut off. - Romans 11:21-22

I have learned to be careful when making judgments about others

although i do agree rockytopva
1 Peter 4:17 For the time is come that judgment must begin at the house of God: and if it first begin at us, what shall the end be of them that obey not the gospel of God?

After my grandfather passed, my grandmother would sit in her rocking chair holding her Bible in her lap. No one would visit from the church where she and my grandfather attended. Reading her Bible and singing from her hymn book became her church.

You are probably the most judgemental member on the board. What a treat for Jesus!
Judgmental? Maybe. Calling a denomination apostate that ordains women as pastors, gay men as pastors, gay women as pastors, and performs same sex weddings is judgmental? If it is, I gladly wave the banner. Can I have a ribbon for it? A gold star by my name?

Yep. It was some wrangling and negotiating over property but it happened. I think one had to buy their property and buildings and a couple of the others had big notes so they paid a pittance because the denominatiin didnt want stuck paying for empty buildings when they walked out.
