Yep. It was some wrangling and negotiating over property but it happened. I think one had to buy their property and buildings and a couple of the others had big notes so they paid a pittance because the denominatiin didnt want stuck paying for empty buildings when they walked out.

Went from UMC to independent. One went to non denominational. I had always heard you couldnt leave, but I guess you can if willing to spend the money.

Well it depends. Money is one issue, the second is if the annual conference will negotiate a price at all or just say no.

You said the only sound UMC churches in your area are now independent. If they are independent then they are no longer part of the UMC. So you have no idea of the polity of the UMC. Plus, there are still many UMC churches that are still bible believing. Many where I live. Btw, is it your position that all female clergy are unsaved?

No, but they are definitely not acting according to the will of God.

I think one of the best arguments in favor of female clergy is it can potentially save the church money because you can pay them less.
