From the latest report, I heard. The folks involved are not locals. The Bundys are from Nevada. It will be interesting to see what happens tomorrow when everyone's back in the office.

And the people they are supposedly supporting plan on surrendering tomorrow to begin their jail time. Though, they are appealing. These militiamen, from what I gather, were not invited in by the locals.
Well yeah, Bundy's kids from Nevada are spearheading this whole thing.

Not invited, and not wanted by the Hammonds.

So far, the Feds haven't caught a case of the stupids. The militiamen are standing out in a freezing Eastern Oregon winter. As my Yakima, Washington bred dad says:
There's nothing between them and the North Pole except a barbed wire fence and it's down.

I hope they simply isolate these people and let them squat on the facilities. Won't be long and they will be turning on each other and people will give up their "protest" and start leaving the area.

Here is the area on satellite photos.

You can go to this link and view a slide show of the area. It's fairly desolate.

Yeah but at some point the place that doesn't belong to them needs to be returned to the proper ownership. How long should they be allowed to be there?

I mean I shouldn't be allowed to round up a bunch of goons and take over Mount Rushmore until we decide that we are hungry and tired right?

I'm waiting to see what happens on Monday (the 4th). By then, the sheriff's department and the Oregon State Police should have something planned and the man power in place to make their move. Unless of course, some airhead in Washington decides something must be done. And everything goes into the dumpster. If the locals can and are allowed to handle this case, then there won't be any "martyrs" for The Cause.

Agreed. This needs to stay local until it no longer can. This should see a resolution at the local level in order to avoid escalation.

A militia just took over a federal building in Oregon. Three of the 150 militia members are sons of notorious Nevada rancher Cliven Bundy.

They are occupying the headquarters building at the Malhuer National Wildlife Building to keep local ranchers our of prison. The building is 50 miles outside of Burns, Oregon.

The militia is reportedly heavily armed.

The militia members are upset that 2 ranchers, Dwight and Steve Hammond, were charged under anti-terrorism laws. The Hammonds were set to report to prison on Monday.

The militia believe the Hammonds were illegally prosecuted because they claim the federal government does not have authority at the county level.

According to the Washington Examiner, Ammon Bundy said “This facility has been the tool to do all the tyranny that has been placed upon the Hammonds.”

Cliven Bundy gained national popularity among patriots who rejected the growing overreach of Barack Obama’s federal government. He dug his heels in during an armed standoff with federal officials from the Bureau of Land Management.

Early Saturday, the Bundy family and 300 protesters marched through Burns before taking over the federal refuge.

An unnamed investigative reporter claimed that Ammon Bundy intends to use the refuge as a headquarters for the militia for the foreseeable future.

Bundy also has issues a call to sympathetic citizens to join in his efforts and come to the area, according to the Washington Examiner.

Take a look at this photo of the crowd arriving at the protest. Strange, but several people are carrying bouquets of flowers. (I've circled them in pink.) Click on image to enlarge.

Between that and some of the cryptic "farewell messages" we've seen, this scenario is becoming a little more unsettling.

I've since learned that the flowers were given to the Hammond family in Burns, Ore. After the protest, a bunch of people split off from the group and drove out to the refuge center and took possession of it.

The "militia" is wrong. The Hammond's were charged with setting fires on Federal land. You commit a federal crime on federal land, guess what?, the Feds will prosecute. The law calls for a mandatory minimum 5 year sentence.

There is another thread on this already started.

Well yeah, Bundy's kids from Nevada are spearheading this whole thing.

Now THIS is why some folks don't need guns. This is pure terrorism. Taking control of federal land and then talking about "we'll protect ourselves if we have to ". They are already a threat.

If this was a group of Muslims or black people who took control of a federal building with guns, this would be all over the news and there would probably already be folks dead.

Everyone in there needs to be arrested and charged with domestic terrorism.

I wonder if Poncho is there?

WRITTEN STATEMENT ON HAMMOND SITUATION:

I regret having to even make this statement, but I have no choice, since Ammon Bundy has not made it sufficiently clear to the patriot community that the Hammond family has declined physical armed help, and by all indications does NOT want any kind of armed stand off with the Federal government, and they do NOT want anyone to attempt to protect Dwight and Steven Hammond from being taken into Federal custody on Monday, January 4, 2016 when they are scheduled to turn themselves in to serve additional time for their felony convictions (which came after a jury found them guilty). They intend to voluntarily turn themselves in and serve out the remainder of their sentence, under federal minimum sentencing statutes, after losing in the Ninth Circuit Court of Appeals on that issue. In fact, they have made it very clear, through a public statement by their lawyer, in a letter to the Sheriff dated December 11, 2015, that:

Why would Poncho be there?
