You are a credo baptist if you are a baptist.

If you believe that baptism is an ordinance for those who have already come to faith in Christ and confesses faith in him you are a credo-baptist.

The opposing view is called a paedo baptist. One who baptizes infants.

So why is Slim not allowed in the Baptist section?

Or is he not a member of the Baptist denom?

Because he is not a Baptist. Credo-Baptist is about who is baptized, not about Baptist beliefs. He is a member of a Non denominational church, not a Baptist church. Some Methodists baptize just like the Baptist church but that does not make them Baptists.

Lots of denominations are credo-baptist: Assemblies of God, Oneness Pentecostal, Churches of Christ, etc.

Sorry to have dragged this one off course but I just want to set the record straight, and then I will be done.

1) My church is not non-denominational. it is Christian & Missionary Alliance (think AW Tozer). They are for the most part Arminian, while I am a Calvinist.

2) My own beliefs are in line with the 1689 London Baptist Confession. So I guess I am a Baptist attending a C&MA church.

Thank you. I was confused. But that's nothing new right?

Hi again Rick.

You can post in the two forums I mentioned before.

BTW there is something called the Baptist Distinctives to which (presumably) all Baptists adhere.

Also, I agree with whoever it was that said it's the term "original sin" that many of us don't like because of it's popish origin. Namely, it gives the impression that water baptism washes away "original sin" associated with the Catholic dogma that "holy" water (rather than the blood of Christ) has the power to take away sin.

IMO, the Inherited Adamic Sin Nature (though wordy) is a better term.

Thanks.

See you in the "Baptist Board" all Christian" forums.
