Regeneration precedes faith versus faith precedes regeneration.

It is a true statment that the regenerated have faith that Jesus is the Christ (1 John 5:1). In the same way the regenerated have the love of God in their life and know God (1 John 4:7).

Now if faith precedes regeneration that does not negate 1 John 5:1 teaching the regenerated have faith that Jesus is the Christ.

Now being saved is being regenerated by the Holy Spirit, that is, in the grace of God. Explicitly through faith (Ephesians 2:8).

And before the coming of the faith, under law we were being kept, shut up to the faith about to be revealed, so that the law became our child-conductor -- to Christ, that by faith (aforementioned) we may be declared righteous, Gal 3:23,24

who in the days of his flesh both prayers and supplications unto Him who was able to save him from death -- with strong crying and tears -- having offered up, and having been heard in respect to that which he feared, through being a Son, did learn by the things which he suffered -- the obedience, and having been made perfect, he did become to all those obeying him a cause of salvation age-during, Heb 5:7-9
and in fashion having been found as a man, he humbled himself, having become obedient ( did learn the obedience Heb 5 ) unto death -- death even of a cross, Phil 2:8
because also Christ once for sin did suffer -- righteous for unrighteous -- that he might lead us to God, having been put to death indeed, in the flesh, and having been made alive in the spirit, 1 Peter 3:18

and the faith having come, no more under a child-conductor are we, Gal 3:25

What was the faith that came and resulted in life from death, regeneration.

And himself is the head of the body -- the assembly -- who is a beginning, a first-born out of the dead, that he might become in all things -- himself -- first, Col 1:18

Which came first? The chicken or the egg?

Faith and life. The substance of things hoped for the evidence of things not seen. The resurrection to life incorruptible, of the One, who gave his life?

This I have to agree with. As soon as faith in Christ exist in men they are saved. Simply faith is believing

Truth precedes hearing and hearing precedes faith. But that is not really the conundrum.
