Considering the presidence that when Obama speaks or gets a spending bill passed the market falls what are your guesses about the market response to the speech he will give tonight?

He sure doesn't inspire hope at all. He talks down the economy more than any other President I can remember. I guess it's part of his strategy so that he can entrench the gov't into our lives even more.

How many times has he said the word "crisis" ????

The crisis began when he was sworn in, IMHO.

Yes, Obama is the ONLY politician that misuses a word huh? Did you live in the US during the last eight years?

This crisis that we are really in and living through each day started LONG before Obama was in office.

I am not sure why he does it, but I would rather have him call it like it is va sugar coat it and make it seem like everything is A-Ok.

There is a lot I don't like about Obama, but telling me the truth about how bad this mess is isn't one of them.

Obama is not telling the truth about the current situation. This is not the worst conditions since the depression. He needs to tone down his hyperbole. But he wants more sympathy for his liberal spending. Nothing more.

Obviously you have not followed the market or have little understanding of how the market works. A one day move means nothing. You have to watch long trerm. The trend is down and has been for a long time. The market still has a ways to go before it hits major resistance. Where is the resistance? I am glad you asked. The first major resistance is at 7050. It will be interesting to see if the market pauses there and goes like a crab for a bit. It will be a long time before it will be possible to tell if this moarket is moving from a bear market to a bull market.

Saying why the market moves up or down on a given day is simply whistling in the dark. Yes, so called experts, do that in their columns. But after years of following what they say and watching the market I have come to understand that they simply have to write a column and so give a reason. But they and one reason moves are never to be taken seriously.

Have a blessed day.

LOL, it went up today, by 240 or so points, thanks to Bernanke's speech, but I don't know anyone who doesn't think we're in a bear market.

Has anyone considered the possibility that O'bama wants the market to fail? Each time he opens his mouth it falls. Following his speech last night it opened down but rose during the day. After some afternoon remarks by O'bama it went down again.

Lady today said it is good the market goes down when he speaks or passes new legislation, it means the new legislation wasn't wallstreet friendly so was probably good for mainstreet. That's why we voted him in. We wanted someone who represented those of us who live on mainstreet.

I was listening the news here on he way into Dublin yesterday. They were interviewing an economist from someplace in California. Don't have a clue who he was, but I like what he said about stock market reactions.

"The stock market is like the 13 year old daughter of the US economy - it is always the drama queen.'

Funny, this is the only place I find this sentiment. I work in a republican state, yet at my place of employment, Obama is respected and people look forward to his presidency. I sure am glad that you are in the minority.

Hopefully, we have seen the end of right-wing conservative government in the United States.

You sure like to keep throwing this is people's faces - it's very ungodly. As a Christian, being in the minority doesn't really matter to me. There are more important things in life than other people agreeing with me.

Why can't something be good for everyone? Why this division and hatred? I thought that was all changing with Obama? I guess not. It seems the Obama supporters are just as divisive and hateful as Bush/McCain supporters.

Politics has never changed in its nature and never will - whether it is in a local congregation or all the way to the White House. Politics is divisive. Period. Always has been. Always will be.

President Obama's speech on Tuesday night was one of the most hopeful I have heard since Ronald Reagan was president.
