Mueller says Trump not under criminal investigation

Washington Post reports Mueller stayed Trump is not target in Russia investigation.
There are three levels in a criminal investigation:

(1) Target
(2) Subject
(3) Witness

So Trump is currently a subject in a criminal investigation, but not a target. Those categories can change according to what they discover, everything from “target” to ‘not under investigation’ anymore.

Losing to him.

They felt much the same about Georg Bush...for the same reason.

Believed in their souls(if the left has any) that they had it in the bag.

And then lost.

Mitch didn't provide a link. Lol, peruse the 'spins' here. They can make it sound either way. Blows my mind.

All Mueller cares about is keeping this thing going until they can grandstand & leak to influence the next election cycle. All the while deflecting from the guilt of the deep state.

If he really said that, I believe he lied. " Investigators" are allowed to do that, aren't they?
Yes and no. He stated it to Trumps legal team. In that instance he is most likely not allowed to lie. That gets into a legal gray area.

He is the first real threat to their agenda.
He opposes globalism and he will appoint strict constructionist justices.

well then, since that was the stated purpose for the investigation,it should be shut down.
That's simply not correct.

ORDER NO. 3915-2017

APPOINTMENT OF SPECIAL COUNSEL

TO INVESTIGATE RUSSIAN INTERFERENCE WITH THE 2016 PRESIDENTIAL ELECTION AND RELATED MATTERS

By virtue of the authority vested in me as Acting Attorney General, including 28 U.S.C.§§ 509, 510, and 515, in order to discharge my responsibility to provide supervision and management of the Department of Justice, and to ensure a full and thorough investigation of the Russian government's efforts to interfere in the 2016 presidential election, I hereby order as follows:

(a) Robert S. Mueller III is appointed to serve as Special Counsel for the United States Department of Justice.

(b) The Special Counsel is authorized to conduct the investigation confirmed by then-FBI Director James 8. Comey in testimony before the House Permanent Select Committee on Intelligence on March 20, 2017, including:

(i) any links and/or coordination between the Russian government and individuals associated with the campaign of President Donald Trump; and

(ii) any matters that arose or may arise directly from the investigation; and

(iii) any other matters within the scope of 28 C.F.R. § 600.4(a).

(c) If the Special Counsel believes it is necessary and appropriate, the Special Counsel is authorized to prosecute federal crimes arising from the investigation of these matters.

(d) Sections 600.4 through 600.10 of Title 28 of the Code of Federal Regulations are applicable to the Special Counsel.

So Mueller is well within his wide mandate.

The stated goal at appointment of S.C. was to investigate Trump campaign ties to Russian collusion. It is obvious that was the case because Mueller has done nothing but hound Trump officials and associates.

Who has "stated" that?

Simply put, I have posted both a link to the Special Counsel authorization as well as the text of the authorization order here. That is what counts, not what someone has "stated."

It is obvious that was the case because Mueller has done nothing but hound Trump officials and associates.
When you were in law enforcement conducting an investigation of persons who were suspected of criminal activity, do you think they and their supporters felt hounded?

Mueller has a number of guilty pleas, one person sentenced (the son-in-law of a Russian oligarch who was referenced in the Steele memos), and a large number of indictments. Sounds like he is finding a lot of wrongdoing within the mandate given by the order from Rosenstein.

And, since no one else has mentioned it, the title of this thread is false. Mueller has stated that President Trump is a subject in a criminal investigation, although not a target.

Mueller has been running wild.
From what I have seen, it is quite methodical.

Let’s recall that a raid on Manafort’s house happened in the middle of the night, when Manafort’s wife was ordered FROM her bed to be searched for weapons! Did this not constitute strong arm thug tactics, designed to scare & intimidate?!
Apparently, it was conducted that way so that evidence would not be destroyed.

How many times are doors knocked in and SWAT teams search a house in the middle of the night? That happens all the time under certain circumstances where there is sufficient evidence of criminal activity and evidence may be destroyed.

There have been numerous indictments as a result of that raid and other portions of the investigation.

Your link does not work, but I found the article.

Jarrett's reasoning in light of the Special Counsel authorization is silly. Manafort was connected with the Trump campaign, and he has longstanding ties to Russia. That didn't start in 2016, when Manafort volunteered to take over Trump's campaign. It is obviously relevant to look at what Manafort was doing before he joined the Trump campaign.

Editorial bluster is no substitute for facts.

Mueller needs to go away. We don’t need desperate super powerful hyper partisan investigations. It costs money we don’t have and the resources could be better used elsewhere.

Plus, Whitey Bulger made Mueller a laughingstock.
