In order to be seen as being a Fundemental?

Fundamentalism and reformed theology are not necessarily exclusive but it can be exclusive.

There are those who call themselves Fundamentalists who are not reformed (Jerry Falwell, Charles Shelton)

On the other hand, there are those who were fundamentalists who were reformed (Carl McIntyre)

There were those who consider themselves reformed but not Fundamentalists (J. Greshem Machen, R.C. Sproul, and myself).

And there are those who are conservative but not reformed or fundamentalists.

That would be my "grouping", as being an Evagelical conservative Christian baptist!

Who in the world is Charles Shelton?

I don't know.... :)

For some reason, I have made this mistake a number of times when referring to Shelton Smith (Sword of the Lord). I have no idea why I keep doing that but for some reason I want to rename him Charles SHelton.

?????

Shelton Smith is not only KJO, he is strongly opposed to Calvinism. The Sword wrote I believe a five issue atricle against Calvinism about a year ago. I was a big fan of John R. Rice, he was KJ preferred, but wrote against Calvinism. Curtis Hutson was my favorite, great preacher, he was against Calvinism also and used only the KJB.

I believe there are FAR MORE Baptist churches that are not Reformed than are.

I have to agree with Winman. I know of far more Baptist churches that are NOT reformed than are.

However, my opinion is based on me living in the South and the Northeast, where I have encountered very few reformed IFB churches. When I worked out in the Midwest there was a reformed church of one denomination or the other on every corner, so I suppose ones thoughts on this may be swayed by his/her geographical location.

None of the IFB churches in my area of Maine are reformed.

My younger brother was once in an IFB Church that was anti Reformed until his family needed psychological & family counseling...then the only qualified Christian counselor in his area was a Reformed guy. Then they moved back to Jersey & his Pastor is IFB & Calvinistic. Now my brother sees DOG as a legitimate theological system.

Yeah, perhaps it is a geographical thing, I grew up in the South, but have lived in New England the past 20 years, and I can recall seeing only one Reformed Baptist in Virginia, while I have seen hundreds, if not thousands of non-Reformed Baptist churches. I am sure the ratio is not that big, I wasn't really counting, and perhaps many Baptist churches I have seen were Reformed, but I know for a fact there are far more non-Reformed, at least where I've been, which is up the entire East Coast.

My pastor simply says that Calvinism is a hereasey. (or is that supposed to be hear-say)

It's heresy. I am far more anti-Calvinism than my pastor, but I am far more anti-Charismatic than him as well. He is definitely not a Calvinist, but he said he knows many who are. He also knows many Pentacostals and attended these churches as a teen. He is very pro-Holy Spirit power for witnessing, we have been doing a study on the Holy Spirit for several months now. But we don't believe in tongues or revelations or any of that.

I guess he is just more tolerant than myself. He does not throw the word heresy around, he simply says error.

It his heresy?

So, I am assuming you believe all the following men were heretics:

Charles Spurgeon
John Bunyan
George Whitfield
William Carey
Adonirom Judson
Albert Mohler
Jonathan Edwards
John Owens
B.H. Carroll
Augustine of Hippo

When I went to Liberty, I had a professor who was not a Calvinist say that if you believe Calvinism is heretical, you have just condemned most of the greatest men and theologians in Christian history including most in our theological heritage as Baptists.

I didn't call anyone a heretic, I was correcting Phillip's spelling, go back and read again. I do not throw that term around as many do.

But I will say this, I do disagree with Calvinism in the degree of man's depravity, I do not believe a man must be "regenerated" to have the ability to believe, although I do not believe any man can believe without the conviction of the Holy Spirit and revelation of God's word. I disagree with Unconditional Election, I believe God elected those he foresaw would believe, I believe in unlimited atonement, I disagree with Irresistable Grace and believe men can resist God, and I disagree with Perseverance. I believe we are PRESERVED which is very different.

I don't care what famous preachers believe, every denomination has it's famous preachers and scholars, although I admit Calvinism has many notable scholars. I care what the scriptures say, and I believe the scriptures utterly refute Calvinism.

care to give some verses that would refure the basic notions of cal theology as regarding Sotierology then?

As you like to always say that calvinism is not biblical, yet what are the passages that you "hang your case" on against it?

Give me a break, I have been showing scripture that refutes Calvinism for over two years here! It's not my fault if you have ignored it.

Funny, Ive never spoken to a Reformed Baptist Pastor that ever communicated any negativity towards another Christian.:godisgood:

I've not seen any person in more error on the BB than winman.

His misinterpretations, misapplications, eisegesis, missing context altogether and his consistently in doing so wins the prize for most erroneous.

He knows what Scriptures say, just not what they mean.

Thus his disdain for others is out of control, even beyond his own pastors, which he takes delight in as some trophy to be envied.

How imprudent.
